Was like watching a wall tonight, everytime he got the ball he gave it straight back.

Just want to see a little more risk to his game, but that's not his nature.

Was basically just some more legs in midfield which we needed tonight, but can't be the long term solution.

Did okay but received the ball a couple of times in the open when the opportunity was there to drive into their box and shoot, yet each time he turned back.

Backed him all season but that was poor, barely contributed offensively and should've done much better on both the first and third goals, allowed Camavinga to cut in without a challenge and lost Valverde for the third, if he's going to be poor both offensively and defensively there is no need for him.

For me, when he plays, we should not be as open as that. As such I don’t think he added anything particularly. Probably wouldn’t have played had De Bruyne been fit though.

Yeah, this is it in a nutshell. We put him alongside Rodri, we expect solidity. We didn’t get it at all. Tonight, Kovacic looked like a £30m squad player. A CL QF away at Real looked a step too far for him.

He just doesnt suit playing higher up the pitch like Gundo did. He is best dictating from deep where he can use his dribbling ability to take a player or two out the game and spring an attack.
