8 points ahead of where we were last season.

It's irrelevant really in that you're only as good as your last game.
We need to get as close to winning the league as we can to lay down a marker and to win the league we really have to win virtually every game and start putting a few more teams to the sword.
For us ro get level on points, Chelsea can feck up 3 times (a draw and 2 defeats) + additional point losses equivalent to those points we drop - so it's highly unlikely.
A draw and a defeat really is all we need from others + we need to beat them and if we cannot do that then we do not deserve anyway.

Just compared Chelsea's record in the 27 games this season with last year's effort.

2015-2016 Points 36 Goals For 41 Goals Against 40
2016-2017 Points 66 Goals For 57 Goals Against 20

Certainly European involvement takes its toll, but Conte's performed admirably with much the same squad. Would he have had such an effect had we appointed him?

That was a very good squad Conte inherited, their previous manager fucked it up badly and got binned off. Pep on the other hand inherited an aging squad in need of rebuilding and re-motivating.

Chelsea's win last night seems to have given them more confidence about the title. Which is fine.
From our two titles we are at our best coming from behind. I still feel that we can catch Chelsea. Come on City

Chelsea are better this year for two reasons imho

Conte has changed things around and made them in to quite an efficient and ruthless team.
More importantly for me they signed Kante, he for me was the difference for Leicester and is doing the same for Chelsea.

As for the run in, if we're 5pts behind them after that run of three games, the manner of our win at their place will decide if they get nervous enough to bottle it in to the last 2 games. Conversely for us in that same situation I think we can go the rest of the season unbeaten depending on injuries/suspensions.

Still don't think we'll win it but who knows :)

If only we won the Middlesborough and Everton games at home especially we would be 5 points behind. Southampton at home aswell but that was less dominant.

Won those, we could of been 2-5 points behind Chelsea with us still playing them, the arse both away. Sigh.

Sadly we have thrown some really silly points away this year with defensive howlers that have cost us dearly.

The Chelsea and Spurs games also. No doubt the referees decisions did not help but still we were leading 1-0 and 2-0 in those games with roughly a third of the game left. To concede five goals was a poor defensive effort.

Progress but still dissapointing to be so far behind Chelsea.
To many matches where we have been awful.

Makes me frustrated too, knowing what talent and hard work can be gotten of of those same players. The owners need take note for when we are hiring managers in future

or alternatively don't hire someone just to hold the fort whilst waiting for the manager you want, if that is your intention then don't let the sitting manager know that as its difficult to motivate in those circumstances.

Im going to have to disagree here. Aguero, Debryune and Dihno haven't been better. Yaya and Sterling have been better.

Kolarov has been better at CB, same at LB. Kudos to Pep for switching him. His key improvements have been Silva, Sterling and Yaya.

As for buying the talent, Pellars bought 4 players and won the league the first season he came in. Then got hampered by FFP. Pep without FFP shackles, bought the guys he wanted and so far seems like he might not win the league.

1st year to 1st year, I think Pellegrini's record holds up pretty favorably.

Not sure what you are saying, it seems to be that Pep isnt as good as Pellers because Pep has had money and no FFP?? Surely Pep has been way better? Buying talent - seriously pellers bought better players? You said it yourself in your original post about how good the talent pool was this year. Pep bought those guys

For me, the passion, the commitment, the hard working, the lack of lazy fuckers ambling around the fkin pitch whilst the manager sat there smiling, beating Barca, coming back beat many teams, the more attractive football... No brainer, we're moving forward with Pep.
