Picked up the Whatnauts as it was marked down at the time. Hadn't heard it, just took a punt. Didn't grab me immediately, but I was buying 12" ers every week, we were spoilt. Bassline stayed with me though as I immediately recognised FLB "Act like you know" following year. Spinning the instrumental side whilst typing and loving it. It was a bit under the radar back in 81? Sampled on DeLa Soul some 10 years later.

Jam & Lewis were about to go for world domination imo. SOS Band were still on top of their game. This remix added some rewind effects and fleshed out what was already a good lengthy album track. James Hamilton at Record Mirror gave it the thumbs up so I bought it blind. Still sounds great.
Good shout on these two and nice to see the thread moving again.

Top track n beat, around the same time DeLa dropped their Ring ring cut of it, MC Lyte also blessed it with 'Big bad sister''

Heavy D jumped on it with 'Sex with you' n later Jaheim bass boosted it up nicely with 'Ain't leaving without you'

Never heard the Heavy D one, great spot. Peaceful journey was my favourite of his. Must admit, most of the Rap stuff I liked back then was based around the samples and beat more than rhymes.
