Whats todays equivelent ?

Too many driver aids and too much safety to ever have cars like these 80's hot hatches again, for some reason having a 120ish mph hatch with the stopping characteristics of a bar of soap has limited marketing appeal these days. Probably the nearest I can think of for a more "recent" car that is destined for "hot" hatch "classic" status would be the rare lupo gti, the Clio sport is probably another but there are plenty about. Turbos/supercharged cars will always be popular due to the tune-ability, hoping to buy the often overlooked polo g40 soon if all goes well.

They also don't seem that fast in comparison to normal cars any more. The 3 series diesels you see reps driving up and down the motorway would probably wipe the floor with most hot hatches these days.
