I watch him and just think meh. Doesn’t really excel at anything. Can’t defend as a RB and not good enough on the ball as an 8.

Has age on his side but I don’t see a footballer who has progressed since last season. If anything, he looked a better player when he 1st broke into the side.

Replacing Walker in the next few years will be huge for us but unlike some on here, I don’t believe his replacement is Rico.

His defending is getting worse. Pretty evident he's never going to be a regular fullback for us. Midfield is his future.

Do you honestly think he's good enough on the ball to be anywhere near out midfield regularly in the future?

He simply does not have the size or stature to be a regular in our midfield, and to be honest he just simply isn't good enough on the ball.

He's 19 mate, there's no reason why not.

I do accept his stature is going to be a substantial problem for him. It's becoming quite evident he isn't going to grow much more so it's vital he learns to handle himself and the ball well against people who are going to be upto a foot taller and several stone heavier.

If he doesn't learn that side of the game we'll he won't last but if he does then he could play many games for us.

Not every player needs to be a kdb level to be a success. Even if he doesn't reach the highest heights, there's a role for a trustworthy, adaptable squad player. Especially if they're also club trained.

Some utter mentalists on here. He's just started his career and some morons are already writing him off. When most of you were at the same age as he is now you probably still believed in Santa.
I think those like myself that are a bit sceptical, are seeing a young lad who's played his whole upbringing as a right back, now be pushed into Central midfield, where he doesn't seem to be offering much.

Surely the plan all along wasn't for him to play that role? If not, why isn't he being given more time at right back?

I think it's even more bizarre that an 18 year old is being pushed into a new role. Some people will say that's because Pep believes his intelligent enough to play there, but I just don't see it myself.

Just an opinion, and happy to be proved wrong!

First game he has been "average" just a 6/10 , his control let him down at times , but got away with it against inferior opposition , an off day. Not sure what his best position is but quite sure Pep will work it out for him

Yeah agree with this. He plays the game the way Pep wants, but he's never going to be perfect at his age. Will he ever be good enough to be one of the first names on the team sheet? No idea. But he's certainly a useful squad player at the moment and with a lot of room to improve still.

Touch/passing was a bit off today, no disaster though.

He's 18 for crying out loud. He will have good games and he will have poor games. Bellingham had some poor games for Dortmund. It happens.

Nobody has much of an idea yet of what his actual best position will be because he's still growing physically and is just at the very beginning of his career. The fact that he's already shown some versatility despite his age is a massive plus for him.

Do you think Kevin De Bruyne was good most weeks as an 18 year old? Factually he wasn't. And that was despite playing at a much lesser club and without the pressure that also comes with playing for an elite club like ourselves.
