Faded a bit in the 2nd half as the game became more transitional. In that scenario I'd like to see him try and grab and regain control a bit more. His great strengths are moving into the space, creating angles and that, but when we can't find him he becomes a bit anonymous. But that'll come with experience.

The goal was the obvious highlight, but in the first half he was superb generally, directing the play. I was watching his movements and how he was organising those around him. The way he was wanting to play was like how we played at our absolute peak under Pep, it's obvious that he gets it and why Pep likes him so much.

First touch turn and finish for the goal was class. Thought he did well finding pockets and moving the play on throughout the game. He was handy in the build up play at times. Looks like he might have filled out a bit physically?

Fair play to him for the goal today and it was the catalyst for the win, but he’s just not a first team player for me, maybe a squad player for the last 15 mins of games or early round cup games and he loves the club, but to each their own.

Yes he does. I thought he looked more powerful physically. He was also guiding those around him.
I think some forget that he is 20, and he has years of development ahead of him.
You do not captain the U18 team at one of the world's top academies, at 15, without being a seriously talented player.
With the patient support of fans, we could have a genuinely world-class player, born in the area, and who has played for the club since he was in year three at primary school; what a thing to celebrate that would be, just as it is with Phil, and could be with Nico, and others.

He just penciled himself into the Squad List for next season! Showed he can play midfield and get forward when he’s not being asked to constantly dog it back to RB.

Took his goal well, which has been the only thing missing from his forward midfield play. He might be a young Gundo replacement…

His utility is golden and as a young homegrown, it would take serious money to drag him from the Etihad at this point.

I don’t rate him as a RB, but he has the industry to be a midfielder IF he stops allowing himself to be pushed around. He might have to add a little bite to his game and get a few naughty yellows to let people know not to fuck with him, but at his age…

And, I don’t want to gloss over the fact that early doors I said he’d be gone before the start of the ‘27 season because he wouldn’t develop. At the time he was an inverting RB, to which I felt he was ill-suited. Today, he showed he’s a midfielder. Now, it’s a question of whether he’s happy being a squad player at City or a starter at 35 other teams in the top 2 English divisions, or overseas.

Well pleased for him.

Everyone entitled to their own opinion, of course...and he's not had the best season. But my opinion is that I find it slightly baffling (and sad) that so many choose to pile on a young lad (still only 20), blue through and through, playing in an unfamiliar position, in a underperforming team.

No-one should be immune from criticism but I feel many, both in the stadium and online, have often gone way too far.
