Played well today, although Nunes is better though, and he could be improved on at the RB position. I think if we get a qualified RB we should use Nunes as the utility player and sell Rico as Nunes is better at both positions (RB /mid) and I would imagine we will make around the same money for Rico as he’s homegrown and young. My two pence.

Im not his biggest fan…but id be fine if he was our second choice. Our problem is our current first choice isnt much better and creates an issue.
A top class right back with rico as back up would be great.
Nunes with Rico isnt great at all.
One has to go and a top class right back has to come in. I dont care which one goes but given rico is home grown and nunes can look like a spoiled child id lean to keeping rico, ditching nunes

Just doesn't have it in him )You know when you're younger and you've got a team full of would be strikers that can't all play there so everybody has to do their stint in net or in defence etc to make a decent game of it, Rico reminds me of the one lad on the side who just disregards where he's meant to be playing and basically plays upfront anyway.
He's so often in what i'd consider a strikers position. Now that can be a very potent weapon but he has to learn when to make those runs and that he doesnt need to do it at every available opportunity. Sometimes, just hanging back in your actual position can be the better option.
Cracking pass for Haalands goal. He might not be a world beater but he undoubtedly has a place in this squad

You’ll never convince the hate squad. Pep wants players who offer something different & he does, when we need more passes in midfield he turns to him. In defence of his critics he wasn’t a right back before coming into the first team & doesn't see his long term role there. He came in when Pep needed a full back to add numbers in midfield, once he proved it worked Stones & Akanji were preferred because of there physicality. Hopefully they are able to stay fit this season.
When Rico gets his opportunity in midfield he needs to improve his finishing, he got in some great positions last season & maybe goals would show his worth.

He's nothing like Bernardo. You can't disposess Bernardo, hes a master at jinking and wriggling out of danger with the ball. Rico is awful at resisting pressure, him trying to turn out from pressure often results in him on the floor trying to buy a dodgy freekick. Early days but those are big boots to fill. Not seen anything that indicates he can be anywhere near as good as bernardo. I thought he did well as a midfielder last night. He needs to go on loan somewhere to perfect that role though imo.
He is not a right back. He just hasn't any physical attributes to be one. It's not just height, it's also strength and speed.
I'd prefer O'Reilly as a backup RB or even Ake.

Lewis - although I don't rate him at all - had a very good game versus Palermo. One of our better performers.

Not sure what all the negativity is surrounding Lewis as he looks like he’s got a really bright future as a midfielder….so many positive attributes - quality player and he’s still so young. You can also see he can pick a pass and has an eye for a goal (semi final FA cup) …..RB isn’t his end position for certain.
Meant to say he’s not a Bernardo type of player with that level of skill on holding the ball but he’s great at intricate link up play.

I think Pep loves him, he’s intelligent and eager to learn and work - I don’t see him going anywhere and will be part of our squad for the next few seasons while he has a chance to blossom.There is always someone, and there always has been someone, from Bowyer, to Edgy, to Lewis.

Bernardo is the one person above anybody else who you'd give the ball to at Anfield in our own third to get us out of their high press, he'll shimmy his way free and find a man without shitting the bed like so many others did. Rico is quite possibly the last player in the squad who you'd want in that situation.

Played well last night, seems to suit games against continental sides. I feel his physical shortcomings get exposed against Premier League sides with the system we play. Really tidy footballer, but I do not feel comfortable with him playing 20+ games in our defence.

Plays well when we dominate and cruise, very useful especially when we keep the ball. Problems start when we get hit by counter attacks. Even yesterday on couple of occasions we were exposed on his side. Good utility player, but I doubt he will ever start for us, especially as a RB.

Disagree about the free kicks part. I think he doesn't get as many free kicks as he should in those situations.
