82 | Rico Lewis - 2025/26

Should have cashed in on the rumoured £30m Forest offered us.

This is sort of circular thinking. Forest offering £30m means they think he could be worth double that, like Anderson, Elanga, Johnson. That's their business model. We want players worth £60m, so why sell?

Rico's had some very good games for us and contributed to trophies from a very early age. He's struggling at the moment, but a game like tonight when he's in midfield with Reijnders, who is shockingly poor, and Nico who looked knackered, isn't where you're going to get an accurate assessment of how good he is.

A lot of the players people are writing off as not good enough probably just need a stable, solid team around them while they find their feet. Give them a run of 10 games in a City side from 2017-2023 and they'd have a platform to perform around other players who know their roles, leaders, and will take on responsibility. We've brought in too many players in the last year, and people aren't coming into a team with a solid foundation, they're surrounded by half a dozen other players who are trying to learn a new system/role/position and that's why it's becoming so messy.

He's shown he can be a useful squad player in a good team, he's on low wages and cost nothing from a PSR perspective. We need those players so really no point getting rid.

Didn't do his chances of being a regular any good, but again the problem is who to bring in who is going to be content in being a squad player and is the desired quality?

Should have been sold in the summer, but basically 'not wanting another palmer' is leading to a series of panicky retainments of players who should be sold.
Rico had played more than enough games, for us to know it wasn’t going to be another Palmer situation. He is a bang average footballer and won’t ever amount to anything more than that. We should have snapped Forests arm off.

I'm sure he did but I found myself asking the question at halftime whether he actually touched the ball, I honestly cannot recall him doing so.

If we had sold him, there would be no replacement, we aren't short of cash and his value isn't going to tank so what benefit would it have given us to have sold him, got a few extra quid in the bank and one less player for the season?

I think selling him with no replacement would have been completely fine tbh, he's not making the bench when everyone is fit.

Whereas with him here you are compelled to give him minutes.

But having everybody fit hardly ever happens. We have 2 fit central midfielders, that is why he played tonight. He's barely featured so far this season, I don't agree Pep has felt compelled to give him minutes. We saw last season what a small squad can quickly do to your season, we need it as big as possible. I see no benefit to selling him until the point comes where he needs to be registered and we've got over the allotted club trained quota.

are people starting to realise now?

too late unfortunately...we just made the biggest mistake in a long time and gave him a new contract.....

never seen it with him and still dont.....he is bang average at everything
Its laughable that the 2 worst players (Rico & Sav) in the squad (and that's some doing with the current crop) have been awarded huge deals.

Absolutely mind boggling.
