Maybe because he was praised by our manager and brought into the first team squad.Mcatee was fairly average at Sheff United so not sure why anyone thinks he'll be any better now.

Not sure it makes much difference if he plays well, Pep usually plays fringe players in games like this but then promptly puts them back on the bench. Saw a quote from recently where he said he needs the senior players to step up and playing the younger players would be un fair. He does like to protect them which worked well for Phil but then we run the risk of them leaving We didn’t lose Palmer, he chose to go so he could play. Not sure the club get much choice when you don’t give them minutes and last season Palmer had no chance of minutes because everyone was playing well. What we don’t see is the confidence these younger player show behind the scenes, and whether they can handle the pressure.he now needs to be careful and not get an injury before the Salford game in the cup. thats his last chance this season if he really plays well even scoring or assisting, that may changes Pep's view on him. if he plays shit in that game then he is dead for Pep.
but would not surprise me either if he is just a sub in that game as well and Pep goes with Bernardo, Gundo, Lewis who are overplayed as hell already.
