What appears to be a matter of debate is that many people think that there are some who are capable of doing a days work, I really can't see what the problem is
This is something i would not argue against.
I am capable of doing a days work. But the problem is i cannot tell you which day that will be. Ergo what employer ever would ever say come in when you can and i will pay you regardless. Real world it dosent happen pal.
Tomoorow i could wake up and feel magnificent full of energy and drive or i could wake up having pissed and soiled myself with not enough energy to get out of bed.
Extremes i know and its rarely either but i personally dont know how i will feel in the morning and i have worked and know what its like to be up at 6am and go and graft for a day, but then i could, now i have no idea where i will be at.
It must be incredibly frustrating, and must undermine your confidence being in your position, I admire your spirit and humour. I'm not sure I would be as mentally strong.
You are caught up in the whole benefits debate whether you like it or not and I am sure it felt demeaning to have to be assessed but as the figures have shown, there are a lot of folk who have claimed that have decided not to and removing them must be a good thing as they are taking up resources that can be used to better effect. Maybe it is a price worth paying?
Sadly very many of those claiming IB are in a similar position, one day they may be fine, the next four not, and if the day of their ATOS assessment is one of their "good days" then the money they require to try and lead as normal a life as possible may well be taken away from them, if it is one of their worst days, then they might not be able to attend the assessment, and their welfare money will be stopped, forcing them to try and claim JSA, which as they are not fit for work, then they will not be eligible.
