everton in f.a. cup final....

chelsea also in final... both will get european places anyway!!

opens up 8th spot???

Only 3 Europa League spots, one goes to 5th, one goes to the carling cup winner and one the fa cup winner. If the clubs who win those will get a spot anyway, they go to 6th and 7th.

If the League finishes as it is now then the 5th, 6th and 7th places would go to Villa, Everton and West Ham. A long run in the Europa cup for those three could leave us and Spurs fighting for at least 5th spot next year as we all know how draining a run in Europe leaves the players.

Some good transfer deals in the Summer and the revolution could well gather steam.

Carling cup winners don't get seeded into the Europa League.

They might not be 'seeded' but they take 1 of England's 3 UEFA Cup spots.

5th place gets the spot from the league, the Carling Cup Winner gets a spot and the FA Cup Winner or Runner Up gets a spot.

United won the Craling Cup, but they will be in the Champion's League so 6th place gets a UEFA Cup Spot. Chelsea will be in the Champion's League too, and Everton will, almost certainly, finish 5th or 6th so take one of those UEFA Cup spots, so the FA Cup spot will go to 7th in the league. 8th will get nothing.

Look on Third qualifying round and the play off's section.

I'm not sure what your point is?

As I said, the Carling Cup winner might not be seeded, they're still in the Europa League though, they just enter at the 3rd qualifying round rather than the group stage. Only the top 2 sides in the Premier League enter the group stage of the Champion's League directly, 3rd and 4th enter at the qualifying rounds, does this mean they aren't in the Champion's League? No.

It says on them websites.

Third Qualifying Round - 6th Placed Team in Premier League

Play-Off Round - FA Cup Winners
- 5th Placed Team in Premier League.

Your first link is broken (and Wikipedia so about as reliable as a condom in a needle factory).

The second link, if you check the table, states that CW (FA cup winner/runner up) and N5 (5th place team in the Prem) make the group stage. N6 makes the qualifying round. Now N6 in any other league would the the 6th place team in the Prem, however unlike most other leagues we have a secondary cup competition, namely the Carling Cup. N6 in this instance is the Carling Cup winner.

I would therefore assume that Villa and Everton would enter the group stage, Everton as CW/RU Villa as N5 or N6 (in the event that Everton finish 5th in the Prem) and that the N7 team (currently West Ham) would start in the 3rd qualifying round. The Carling Cup DEFINITELY has a European qualifying spot.
