Conspiracy theories are for crackpots and wierdos. It was terrorism pure and simple. Any other theorising is pointless and, ultimately, extremely offensive to the friends and families of the people killed in these terrorist attacks.

this. although to clarify theorizing is pointless because the evidence for this "theorizing" is shaky, circumstantial, and/or fabricated.

My big question is. If this is not faked and there really has been a 757 crash...why not release the footage? After all, loads of footage of the twin towers has been released where about 3,000 people died etc...

It's the Pentagon, there's probably some 'official secrets act' or whatever the American version is that means information is held rather than released. Plus, being the Pentagon, the amount of non-government surveilance of the area is likely to be minute so independant coverage isn't likely either. Lets face it though, even if they released footage depicting the crash and aftermath there would be some crackpot conspiracists discounting it and cming up with another ludicrous explanation.

Releasing footage that shows the Boeing 757 going over a motorway or past the petrol station or into the pentagon will get rid of more conspiracies than it would start. And the "Official Secrets Act" is used in cases where the government are trying to protect the public...so what would they be protecting the public against?

And the pentagon has a lot of CCTC footage as its regarded as the safest building in the country yet only one camera was on?

I'd imagine hundreds of cameras were on, but they were government cameras on a government building as as such the footage is the propoerty of the United States government/armed forces/military intelligence. They'll not release it unless they feel it's necessary, they clearly don't at this point.

Hardly surprising that, following the Pentagon crash, the government acted swiftly to seize any footage of the incident is it? The last thing they'd want would be for evidence to disappear or be sold off to the highest bidding TV network.

I'm just saying how I would have imagined, as I said I don't understand. Just trying to get some information.

simplified version:

the pentagon is basically a bomb shelter. in the collision of the airplane with pentagon, the airplane (mostly) lost. as i understand it the plane was mostly smashed to bits when it hit the ground slightly ahead of the pentagon. the hole in the pentagon was made by the fuselage. wings would shear off if it penetrated that far, but the plane would get the worst of the collision for sure.

Yeah because if they didn't take the footage there would be irrefutable proof that a Boeing 757 flew into the Pentagon and no conspriacy theories.

It will become public at some stage in the future...maybe many many years from now...it will be interesting to see what is in it and what the fuss is about.

That's entirely possible. However I wouldn't be surprised if, given the sensitivity of the event, the government didn't withhold the evidence or seek leagl means to destroy it. JFK was shot in the early 60's, I'm not expecting all the questions to be answered simply because the government 'have' to release data after a certain amoutn of time.

Was in New York at Ground Zero in August and there is a guy going round saying there were (i think) 3 planes hitting the towers that day!!!

short version is: i was there in NYC on 9/11, i know firemen, gov't officials, etc, and studied materials engineering for a year and a half. pretty much the only plausible 9/11 conspiracy theory that's plausible is that bush knew. that is plausible but unlikely, and not something we're likely to ever know.

as it is, the attention whores who are cashing in on this shit are pretty vile. "loose change" is plain old attention whoring and fact doctoring from film students to mediocre to get any attention from a legit film (yes i also went to film school).

i wanted to post this in response to the OP before i read the whole thread, as there are likely to be posts on this thread by conspiracy nutters that would offend 9/11 survivors, the families of the dead, and the men and women of the City of New York who risked their lives that day. j

i can tell you this though: when some conspiracy nutter says "the firemen said," or "the police believe"... there may be a fireman or two, or a cop or two, but the overwhelming numbers of cops and firemen not only don't believe this conspiracy horseshit, and can easily debunk the faked 'eyewitness accounts,' but they are likely to find it offensive.

Good post which I agree with. My only nagging doubt is the Pentagon stuff...just doesn't add up.

So you are suggesting that they might be holding back information that might have been presented in the investigation. What might they be holding from a public enquiry? Could it be something that would affect the public's view of the government?

Hi Lee, You have misunderstood my meaning, what im saying is that i Believe the US govt are to blame for the 911 atrocity not Bin Laden or Iraq. Thats what i beleive.
