9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

He didn’t even mis control it, it hit the back of his heel, don’t think he knew anything about it!
The defensive work he does from opposition set pieces is exceptional and his goal scoring is exceptional, his link up play and overall game is coming on leaps and bounds.
I’m more concerned that every single midfielder and defender (and wingers) shit themselves in 50/50 tackles, don’t pick up runners, gift the opposition goals and don’t pick up players on the edge of the box when there’s a loose ball..
I think expecting him to chase down everything would be detrimental to his game and he’d be knackered by 70 mins every game if he did.

There is little point to him running around like a blue arsed fly when those behind him don’t follow it up. Our pressing is terrible.

Agree with the rest too. Players ducking out of tackles all over the place.

Just watched his interview with Shearer on the city website. This man loves City like all of us, living his dream.
Couldn’t love the man anymore, we’re blessed to have him.
Hopefully on the scoresheet today.
Go on Erl.
Edit - just clocked already posted in main forum

Not been the same player since the international break, but I do wonder if the team and attack has been set-up more to be better as a collective now rather than just aiming for Erling and hope he wins us the game.

It would have been unbelievable to see Haaland score 40+ in the league, but in all honesty, we were never going to win the league or any other trophy playing that way

Was really strange today. He put in one hell of a shift, but it seemed like he had been actively told not to run in danger areas. I am guessing this is because he is always man marked by at least one person. It all fails when Doku and Foden do not attack the space that Haaland has created though!

Real lack of chances today, we've got to do more to make opportunities for him. Puts in a shift every game. Does his role in the press every time, he's never the one to not do their part.

One point in the second half, they broke on us, few of our players were left up field and didnt bother to get back in, haaland put on a sprint to get back and cover the left back, ended up getting the header in to cut out the attack. Proper leader now. Wise of Pep to give him a decent rest today, he's got to be tired at this point.

This was our average position map.

Keep in mind the attack is going down, and you might notice Haalands average position as a CB!

Now these maps are done by touches of the ball, so they aren't the most accurate as they dont account for just where your standing.

But Haaland had 5 passes and most of them were deep, so clearly marked out of the game, but I dont think he helped himself out here.

He never got himself involved or really tried to get in better positions to score.

But that was fine, we had others do the damage.

Not sure it’s a case of a quiet game, that’s just what he’s like unless he gets a goal. Which is fine. As long as he carries on being a scoring machine who gives a fuck how creative or involved he is.

Today is an anomaly in the sense that he didn’t score. But he’ll be fine.

I still can’t get over why he didn’t hit that ball harder.
Probably afraid because it was his weaker foot. If he’d hit it harder, it probably would’ve ended up in the stands

Absolutely gutting he didnt finish that Cherki chance. All timer of an assist that would have been. Defender did well to clear it to be fair

Bit of a quiet spell by haalands standards last couple of games, but big game against Madrid on Wednesday and he should have space to run in behind
