9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

His nt coach Ståle Solbakken just mocked/criticised how he is used at City. Too few runs around him.

I am not Pep out but the Haaland situation is incredibly annoying in the way that he doesn't seem to want to try and get the most out of probably the most dangerous poacher on the planet. He should be helping us follow Arse and Scouse on his own, instead you get the feeling the system is holding him back

Wasn't an issue when we had Mahrez and Grealish on the wings in the treble year and Gundogan doing the Lampard style box runs and KDB making the passes.

We just don't have that level of quality anymore.

1 assist in 2 years from Doku to Haaland tells you all you need to know about the quality in the team around him.

Haaland had better players at Dortmund helping than he does at City right now in the likes of Marco Reus and Bellingham and Guerrero making some nice overlapping runs.

I've just got back to my hotel after watching the game at the Ullevaal

Haaland hardly touched the ball and his performance matched many games at City when you're screaming for a winger or overlapping full back to fizz the ball across the box.

Instead he had Oscar Bobb (who was arguably Norway's best player tonight) taking the ball on the right wing and then threading little passes to an under-lapping midfielder who would promptly shoot or cross from a completely different angle

Good for Bobb, but not necessarily Haaland

Bit of a friendly "do not get injured" vibe today but in the national team, if he goes on a run they aim to find him. Also they usually have players like Thorsby and Sørloth around him in the box to either maximise the fact that he gets heavily marked or give him more space to do his thing.

We have failed to do these things since the treble season

Bit of a myth really. You’re slagging Doku and then mentioning Grealish. He was hardly assisted Haaland for fun either. If there was ever a winger to slow things down it was Jack. Dortmund was much better for his style i agree z That’s because unless Bayern are playing the teams play end to end.Doesn’t happen often here against us.

The players you memtion at Dortmund are not at the same level as the current midfielders at City. It is the system that does not favour big Erl.

Kane, Lewa. isak would be much better for Peps system. That is nothing against Erl as he is better finisher that all of those.

No worries mate

I was being glib rather than serious and yes it was most definitely a friendly-vibe.

Too many Mexican waves for my liking

However I did think that Bobb played well in more of an inside right position

His heading can certainly be better but still over a dozen with that big beautiful noggin shows he's capable.

Hopefully he can get a few more with his beef whistle too. A measly 1 just isn't good enough for a world class striker.
