9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

How have pundits and ex footballers not realised that he’s a shite header of the ball? He hasn’t improved a single aspect of his play since he’s come to this club. Not improving his heading ability is not good for a player like him. Hes not Thierry Henry, where his strengths lie in his all round play, and he’s gonna dribble past someone, at slide rule pass it. He’s a killer in the box. I love that he’s like that but he HAS to improve his heading ability. That miss from that Cherki cross was inexcusable. Truth is, our team is not great as it once was, and unfortunately for Haaland he has to do more for us now than he ever has when it comes to holding the ball up and getting others into the game. He also is the main man now. KDB isn’t here anymore. We need Haaland to step up in big games and that is his biggest weakness. Headed goals and goals from crosses are insanely important in these games, because midfields are so packed.

He won't and to be fair can't. Teams aren't even bothering to double up on him anymore. He was supposed to adapt to our system.
This isn't helped by the continual downgrading of our squad.

He's the biggest problem we have for me. Great first season in a brilliant team but goes missing and handicaps us most of the time. His game hasn't seemed to have improved one bit.

Certainly lost hunger for the game since that first season

Just gets bullied about these days and seems to just let it happen with a shrug of the shoulders

Great goal scorer but is severely lacking when comes to all round team play. The lack of intensity in his closing down is shockingly bad.
I don’t blame him for that I blame how we play.. his first season here we were very direct and he played great almost every game.. dortmund he was the same.. he isn’t a play for us when we slow everything down and pass sideways backward etc.. our corners are shit, our crosses are shit, not sure what you expect him to do.. he isn’t aguero type of striker that dribbles and scores

He’s one of the very few in this side that has continued to deliver over the shitshow of the previous 12 months. Without his goals, I would argue we are a top 8 side at best. Hes not the best footballer in the world but we knew that even when he was scoring hatricks every other week. Hes purely a goalscorer and is the best goalscorer there is. We are fucked now but we are royally fucked without him.

Never ever thought he was an improvement on Aguero but you can’t take away he is a brilliant goalscorer. It’s foremost our manager that needs to find the way to get the best out of Haaland.

Would swap him for Isak in a heartbeat to be honest.

Big lump with the technical ability of a conference league player.

The main problem we've got is that he's the only goal threat, so he's easy to neutralize. In the season where he scored 52 goals, we also had Alvarez scoring 17, Mahrez and Foden with 15 each, and De Bruyne and Gundogan both managing over 10.

Last season, Foden was the only player other than Haaland scoring double figures. Bobb, Doku and Savinho simply aren't serious, consistent goal threats. Marmoush is, but ideally not from the left wing. He should be taking up the old Alvarez position. Reijnders seems like he's got a goal in him, but the rest of our midfield have no consistent record of scoring. Rodri, Bernardo and Kovacic pop up with the odd big goal, but they're not making runs into the box, dragging defenders away. All of this means that defenders can just concentrate on keeping Haaland quiet and that's most of their job done. How often do we have 3 or 4 attackers running towards the opponents goal and you'd be confident about any of them slotting it home?

Watching him today at the game and his body language and general effort is shocking.

He looks absolutely shattered after about 60 mins. Not to mention the chances he now misses regularly.

He sums up the team at the moment. Just coasting
