I think we will 100% need a WC finisher to replace Aguero once he leaves, and frankly think it would madness not to.

Tbh, I feel the only way we'll ever get the very best out of him is if he plays out wide. Every time I see him there he looks so much more in his element because of the bigger space.

I'm pretty sure Gabby's number of goals scored at this stage of his career is not a lot different to Sergio's at a similar stage.

Gabby and Sergio have almost exactly the same ratio of goals to shots and number of big chances missed per game.

Gabby is absolutely on course to be Sergio's long-term replacement and if he spends the next ten years at City, he could well break Sergio's goal scoring records for City but who knows what the future holds. Right here, right now Gabby is doing fine and making good progress.
Gabriel Jesus has scored 78 goals in 193 games. That’s a goal every 2.4 games.

At the same age, Kun had scored 97 goals in 249 games. That’s a goal every 2.5 games.

Thank you. I did have quick look at some numbers before posting but didn't go into a lot of detail.

I've looked at conversion rates before and Gabby stands up well; especially for his age. Just look at how Raz's conversion rate has improved.

Jesus’ goal record is decent, but it could be better.

I remain firmly in the opinion that his finishing needs to be of a more consistent level. Do away with expected goals and whatever, if he wants to take the mantle from Aguero sooner rather than wait his turn, he needs to bag those chances like yesterday on a more frequent basis.

No ones saying he’s shit, but when he’s offering next to nothing like majority of the team in the first half, the very top strikers will pop that chance and have a goal to show for their teams lacklustre efforts.

He’s a good prospect, potentially great and we will see. This weird notion, though, that no one can criticise an aspect of his game otherwise they have it in for him, is bizarre.

I didnt see him offering next to nothing, I saw him constantly chasing and carrying but being afflicted by the same malaise as the whole team first half. If your going to criticize then find a reasonable criticism. As stated hes got a better gpg than Sergio at his age and is currently being coached by the best coach in a generation.
Look at his misses. It's either inches wide, or he hits the woodwork. It's a minor issue. Had you said about how he cant stay onside of have given your opinion some credence but not on this.

I won’t be giving him praise on what I’d expect any player to be doing. We had Dickov once upon a time for that.

I’ve levelled that at the whole team, bar Sterling, as did Pep, so I’ll stick to that one.

I do look at his misses, and quite often I’m frustrated as he should be putting them away.

The GPG is fine, I still think with a bit more concentration and work he should have a higher GPG. And at this stage of his career is where it should kick up as he’s almost about at the age Sergio was in his first 30 goal season with us and he kicked on, so it’s about his future game too.

Agree with you and I've always been one of his biggest believers and supporters. The numbers are where they should be but the eye test tells you it's not as high as it needs to be. That's the great thing about data and being objective. You can combine the to for a more fair and realistic analysis. It's incredible news for us actually because it shows how much growth he has left in him. Does the boy look lazy or unmotivated? Absolutely not. We need to get closer to the 2,000 minute mark before we start overly worrying about it this season and turning it into a constant debate.

I dont get this. On the one hand you say the numbers are where they should be but then say they're not where they need to be. When hes averaging almost identical numbers to sergio. What's this eye test you speak of? Because I see sergio miss plenty too! Are his numbers where they need to be?

The 2000 minute comment is about the most sense in this thread. Hes currently smashing it, and when he gets more game time I fully expect him to take it to the next level, as i see it he needs game time to get his eye in.

I have no worries that if Aguero isn't around then Jesus will step up, he has scored in all but one of games he has started this year? Can't really ask him to do much more than that. He brings a lot more than just goals and he rightly receives a lot of praise from Pep because of it. If we could get another winger on the other side like Sterling who can add 10-15 goals a year then we will be fine. Mahrez has the ability as does Sane but we will have to see what happens with Sane of course.

He should have definitely buried that 2nd half chance. Missed the first half one, don't know how big that one was. He likes to do a "faker" whenever he is up to something, either passing the ball or shooting and that causes problems as it gives time to opposition to close him. KDB went mad at him recently for doing it twice in one game when he was running into empty space and didn't got the ball and that "faker" undid him in that 2nd chance yesterday too and gave time for keeper and other player to block his shot.

Great player, I feel more than comfortable that he'll fill Sergio's boots when he goes but Aguero is still the man and will be until he leaves.
