>> Again, I understand your point, but it really does nothing to dismiss the idea that Jesus isn't good enough.
So... it's your opinion that Jesus is good enough to be a first choice striker in a top, top side hoping to win the Champion's League? If that's your opinion I strongly disagree.

Jesus is a good backup striker - in that role, if he accepts it - I hope he stays at City.

If somehow we end up with Jesus as our #1 choice at striker - we've screwed up in the upcoming summer transer window big time.

For me the biggest disappointment of his game is that he rarely busts a gut to move quickly into the box when we have wingers who whizz a ball across the penalty area and no-one is there.Thats one of Sergios greatest attributes that he instantly knows where to be in that area.
I don`t see him as a permanent replacement as a striker but the lad does put a shift in,but thats something Pep demands ... unless you`re FFS. ;)

Agreed - I like Jesus and his effort/enthusiasm/team play.

For me though, he's simply not a clinical striker; he doesn't put enough chances away.

As a backup striker he's great; we need much better for our first choice.

Why do we need anything right now? What's wrong with what we have? Barring maybe more depth this current setup seems to be working extremely well atm.

Because we could be much, much better.

Football is an arms race - current best sitting on your laurels - is tomorrow's second best.

This aside, we aspire to win the Champion's League. This competition is extremely hard to win. Past the group stage, it's just two games against an opponent up until the finals. Bad luck or not quite good enough and you're out. And the final - a one-off - to enhance likelihood of victory - you want to be not only a bit better than your opponent - but far, far better.

Again - Jesus is good - and a very good backup striker. But we can do far, far better and have the chance to do so next window.

Yes, really. The truly fantastic one as you say, shows he isn't a poor finisher I. E. he has great skills wrt finishing.
One goal.. One.. Is that really the whole evidence you have for your case? I can show you dozens of easy chances he missed.

Don't think this discussion is really leading anywhere.

So if a striker is not a great finisher, but also doesn't have the great movement that makes him be in the right place at the right time for easy tap-ins, why is it so outrageous to say they are not a very good striker?

We've just won 16 in a row, including winning away at Arsenal, Chelsea, United, Liverpool, and at home to Tottenham by an aggregate scoreline of 17-3. Maybe we can be better but acting like we can be 'much, much better' reeks of being spoilt and unrealistic with your ambitions. Maybe give the current crop a bit more credit?

Pretty sure with Haaland and Messi - we'd be much better.
