On another note, that's 2 consecutive games where he's pulled something out of his arse and scored with his 1st chance. Two aspects of his game that have often been criticised.

The third being this was in a big game at a crucial moment.

Put a predatory striker with him and he will be fantastic for us. His work rate and ability to do something a little different together with a healthy amount of meaningful goals is why I think he can be a very successful player for us.

I fully agree -if he had another strong striker he'd form a great partnership.

the 3-5-2 at the start of 17/18 with Kun was where we were heading, then Mendy got injured and we went back to 4-2-3-1 and not really tried it since, him dropping deep to ping Haaland in behind would be phenomenal.

Excellent goal today, and that's what I've wanted to see and pulled him up on the past year. He won't score many of his chances, nobody does, but scoring key goals, particularly his one of his first efforts is where he turns into a game-changer and that's what's been missing the past year and a bit. He's come back in great nick and this is (yet another) opportunity to cement himself as #1 but if he is consistent and the past 2 performances are the norm he'll have it nailed and be phenomenal.
