Pompey weren't really considered weak in July when this was posted. They still had Defoe, Crouch, Distin and co.

No they didn't. And Crouch left within a couple of weeks of the original post so he was already well on his way by then. Pompey have been a sinking ship long before the original post to this thread was made

The important point here is that we usually get shat on by shite teams yet manage to lift ourselves for the 'big games', if we can manage to beat the rest then losing to the big 4 won't hurt us.

Look at the rags, they were pretty poor vs the other big 4 last season but come May they had the league in the bag.

Agree. Last season the rags gained as much as '58' out of the full '60' points facing the 11th-20th teams.

OK, I'd have loved a more convincing scoreline, but hey - three clean sheets, three goals for Ade, three straight wins in the PL...thru' to next round of League Cup where we've got a home tie...going into the international break with a 100% record...hasn't been this good for ages.

Yeah, City have never lost to team that's 'in trouble' have they?

I'll look forward to tomorrow morning's thread from you.

I've been supporting City for about 50 years now, so I've seen the Mercer-Allison years, and we were fearsome then. I tend to forget most 'Bluemooners' haven't had much to cheer in their own lifetimes so perhaps you're right in that respect.
