2) are the stripes too far apart from one another?

thats the thing with 'Gold on White' , i dont think it ever works properly, like yellow on white they just blend too close together. Thats why i dont like the Melbourne City (est. 2014) crest.

think there is a "hypothetical plan" by CFG to have the brand crest all related, thats the only thing to explain the monstrosity of the new Melbourne City Crest, so every club is inline.

think CFG are seeing how the re-branding of Melbourne takes shape on a smaller scale before attempting it on a larger scale with Manchester City.

but mostly we are speculating ... i still cant believe the Melbourne City crest is real! lol

one possible trick CFG could use, is to do a 'reversible' kit, one side with the current crest and the other side with the re-branded crest. That way they can introduce the new crest slowly and fans get to choose which one they want to wear (in theory, but Nike would probably charge double)

If we are to change badge then they'll probably want to do it over the next 2-3 years while the stadium is being redeveloped. A lot of signage will have to go, especially as the current badge is placed on the posh seats.

A round badge is also a lot easier/cheaper to stitch onto a football shirt when compared to the outline of the current badge. This is the main reason we have that horrible shield on the new Nike kits.

Difficult outline / 4 separate badge parts

Basic outline solution / 1 badge part / looks cheap

Basic and consistent outline solution / 1 badge part / no cheap shield required / emblem stitch quality can be increased

I think if you narrow the shield (and maybe then widen the stripes a little?) the stripes might look more in proportion..?

Also the others (NYC and Heart) have navy/black writing so if we're going corporate then try that...

Also can I get the sky behind the ship a paler (sky) blue and what's with all the flags blowing the same way??? ;-)

Also not sure the maroon, though I like it, would happen so again can I get the background that in paler blue too...?


But as usual your design based on that old badge is really great Gav and the best retro style attempt I've seen by a long way.

tbh, been trying to put it on a blue shirt, and its getting 'lost' on it ..... good with with the current crest, the eagle makes it stand out on a shirt. It would have to be a white or navy band, just for it to be noticeable on a shirt.

are there any old kits using the 'heritage' crest from the past, so i can see how they did it?

the white sets it off .... and the additional white on the kit helps to white on the crest to be more associated.

done a comparison with a few versions on the same shirt ... see what you think works and what doesn't.
