it was barely an apology. on his next appearance on sunday supplement several weeks later, in between talking about other stuff, he mumbled that he had to apologise to city fans but he didn't say what for. it took about 3 seconds and was so long after his original rant that most non-city fans wouldn't even have known what he was on about.

as an apology it ranked below mike gatting's terse apology to umpire shakoor rana written on a piece of screwed up paper after he'd (justifiably) all but accused him of being bent.
 
I dont know any of these knobs but listen to the celebrations at the swamp when nited went 8 points clear on Easter Sunday to win the league for the 20th time!!!!!

I don't think it will, City is either ignored, damned with faint praise, grudgingly acknowledged or shamelessly attacked by the London centric media, who fixate on Arsenal, Chelsea, and "Good Old Arry", and two other distinct groups, the slightly deranged Liverpool hard core and the more powerful and deeply entrenched Utd groupies.

In politics there are "outriders", people with clout, who go out and defend a policy or a minister who are themselves not directly associated with the policy or the minister. Utd have dozens of outriders within the media and from within the sport itself, similarly Wenger has his outriders who were everywhere when he fell flat on his face early in the season.

I might be wrong, but I can't think of a single outrider for City, on the odd occasion when someone needs to defend the club, the manager or players it is always someone either directly associated with the club or has a past association.

Kuyt: City can't buy Liverpool history

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has brushed off Manchester City as a club with no history.
The two clubs are set to clash later today with a UEFA Champions League spot at the back of their minds.
Speaking to the Telegraph, the Dutch striker was adamant that City will never be able to match his side's rich footballing history no matter how much money they have in the bank.
He said:"The history of Liverpool is much, much bigger and every now and again you see clubs doing things like Manchester City now and Chelsea a few years ago. It happens but it's very difficult to buy the history of Liverpool.
"I don't know whether more players will join City for the money. For every player it's a different situation.
"I think the most important thing for a player is to win trophies and be successful as a football player."
