Even if pool won 7 drew 1 and lost 1 they would end up with 70 points and thats a tall order, i am sure someone out the 4 will end up with 71, if we can get 8 or 9 points in next 4 games we will have a good chance as that will keep it in our hands for the villa and spuds games, having said all that i wouldnt say pool are out of it yet but if we average 2 points a game from now 4th is ours, dont you love that word IF

I've been saying for a while now that based on form and forthcoming games, I expect Villa to get 70 points and that we will need 71 to win it.

Like you, I can't see Liverpool having any realistic hope for achieving this. They have had it, imho.

I agree Sunderland won't be a push-over (especially after last night's result) but if we have aspirations of finishing 4th then we've got to be winning matches like that. Fulham, the following week, will be more difficult.
But aren't we playing Fulham in the middle of a run of games for them including Juventus (Home and Away), Tottenham (Away) and Man Utd (not sure about this one) so we may just be playing Fulham at the ideal moment. Four points from our next two away games will be perfick.

No easy games in the Premier League

38 cup finals

next 3 games will make or break our season

etc. etc. etc.

Games in hand dont mean Jack shit unless you win them.

Why do people always go on about... we *could* be.....

You saw what happened at Wigan against the scouse, it can happen to any team.

The only points you can take for granted are the ones on the board. Yes we have the slight advantage of extra games, but doesnt mean we will win them.

It's cylcle logical. :)

The most annoying thing is if we'd converted a couple of those home draws into wins earlier in the season (Fulham, Burnley, Hull) we'd be laughing by now.

just look at totenhams fixtures, they play arsenal, chelsea and united 3 weeks in a row, that will fuck them up and ruin their chances, and they have to come to us and i havent looked at villas but they have to come to us aswell..its in our hands

This^^^

If they get one point from those three fixtures they will have done well.

Two other things to look out for, at this stage of the season teams near the drop zone willbe fighting for their lives to try and escape, and sides that are safe from relegation might just relax a bit, especially if like fulham they have the europa league and the fa cup still to think about.
But for me it wil go to the last game of the season and could well be decided by goal difference, if not actually by the goal difference this could influence te managers team selection for the last game, which could well impact on the result.
(if it was between us and spuds come the final day, how do you think the hammers will react?)

I hadn't though of that but it's a very good point. The whole of Upton park will be supporting us that day if that's the case!

Not if they're not safe, which is quite possible.

If Spurs and Villa were not in the FA Cup, I'd back one of them. As it is, I think Villa might do it anyway. When you look at the fixtures remaining there's a lot of football to go, and a lot of room for injuries, suspensions, loss of form to kick in.

But we are getting to the point where the pressure is really on teams like Everton and Liverpool to win every game
