PS How many players do you think we need to improve upon?

Less than 5?

I think the current squad are the 3rd or 4th strongest in the league, overall. That's factoring depth and quality in there.

The aim next year is surely going to be to push for the title. The "outs" will of course depend on the "ins", but I'd say we are a right back and two midfielders away.

Possibly a striker too.

3-4 top quality players, good management and a fair wind and I think we could win the league and go a long way in the champions league.

That's how close I think we are to glory.

But if we "only" buy 4 first team additions, then I think we need another 4 squad players as well.

I don't think people realise just how many may be leaving us this summer.

Vieira, Petrov, Garrido, Sylvinho and Taylor are out of contract.... Benjani, Jo, Caceido, Bojinov and Robinho are unlikely to return from loan spells... We have half a dozen kids out on loan who are unlikely to come back... and players such as Richards, SWP, Ireland, RSC and Toure are, as I stated, clearly not the future.

So we need at least 8 new players to top the squad up to a realistic level.

I stated we needed a right back, two midfielders, an attacker to replace Robinho... which you agree with... and I only added a centre back to your list... so not that different?

Before you all tell me to fuck off back to my own board I just wanted to say a few things.

I dont think you did a lot wrong last night and City had some great spells of possession. If some of your early chances had turned into a goal, it could quite easily have been a different game. You cant win them all of the time.

Some of the tactics Mancini employed astounded me a bit. To take off Johnson for Santa Cruz was stupid. City were not gettting the ball to Tevez much during the second half, so to remove a link man/crosser of the ball, and bring on a target man was baffling.

Anyway, as a few of you have said, its not the end of the campaign as the idiots on this board are saying. You are still right in the mix and more than capable of finishing 4th.

It takes time to build a team and City will get there, look at the strides you have made already in virtually one season. Its taken Moyes 8 years to get us to where we are now!!! I believe if we keep an injury free side next season we will be back competing for a top 4 finish, hopefully alongside City.

Chins up, you still have a lot to play for this season and last nights result will not damage that too much.

As you say, we're still in the mix as are a number of teams. Heck, it's even not totally impossible that you guys could make it. Unlikely but not mathematically impossible. If you were to win all of your remaining games, you'd probably have enough on 69 points.

And your only real tough matches are Stoke away and Villa away. You could do it. (Although I seriously hope not, of course!)

I'd keep SWP and Ireland. But I'd be happy to see Richards depart. I've been saying for years now, I think he's dross.

I don't think Richards is dross. In fact he's a really good player.

But under the way Mancini will want to play, he's not the man for the job. We need the equivalent of a "winger" to play that role if we are going to go narrow in the future, as I expect us to do.

I really do think too many City fans have shockingly negative views of our players that is totally unjustified.

We are currently the fifth best team in England, so all the players can't be shit, can they?
