A genuine post

Think people r being abit harsh on the OP who has some valid points!!

I too enjoyed the exciting football matches we were involved with last season and havent quite enjoyed them the same this year!

I have thought many a time would I rather attractive football ala Arsenal and win nothing or grind results out like Manure and Chelsea and actually win something!!

Ideally I would like both but I will settle for grinding results out and winning something!

Actually from recent performances I dont think we are far from doing both we just miss that spark of ingenuity in midfield to create more chances!!

Next year with a couple of adroit signings I really think we could be challenging for the title!

I'll compromise, give me 1 Champions League trophy, 1 Prem title, and 1 Fa Cup and i'll take the exciting football.

Im sick of being a loser. I know the club has won stuff before, but that was 4 yrs before i was born. 34 yrs rammed down our throats, next year its 35.

One trophy, im not greedy. Just bloody one and then Bombo can have what he wants.

Didn't mean to sound harsh in any of my posts and if i did i apologise

I agree that I want exciting football but the idea that under Hughes and Sven every game was a thriller is very misguided. I agree with many of the posters that there was no real style or culture of play other than give it one of the fast players and see what happened. The 'excitement' created under Hughes was due to our inability to control a game.

You may raise some good points about how you feel but they are lost under the melodrama. Mancini's record merits that he deserves time and although his record in Italy is no guarantee of success in the prem they do indicate that he knows what he's doing. So far from what I have seen Mancini wants to play controlled possession football - the attacking intent comes from the movement of the players, the fluidity between midfield and attack and the creation of 'passing and movement patterns'. That all takes time to develop and requires something lacking in our midfield at the moment. I for 1 am prepared to give Mancini time and will not fall for the media myth that the decision to sack Hughes was misinformed and hastily made.

My post is not about wether or not Mancini should be sacked it's about the buzz I had over watching city and enjoying the game diminishing rapidly. It's easy to say fuck off, don't go etc but I've been going 30 years do don't give me that bull shit loyal support nonsense.
Since we sacked Hughes my enjoyment of the football as a spectacle has gone down and for some reason my confidence about us beating teams has been shaken. I know that the stats may say Mancini is doing a better job but why dosent it feel like he is?

I'd prefer to win than be 2-0 up and draw 2-2, or be 2-0 down to a bttom 3 club to go 3-2 up and then draw 3-3.

Exciting football isn't going to win trophies. The game has evolved and entertainment is a thing of the past. Its all about results now.

Whereas what you say is true - it's about results - there's a lot of myths too.

Opposing teams never found "boring" Chelsea boring when they were losing 4-0 against them.

I've seen nothing from our manager that tells me we won't be able to win games with lots of goals.

I understand your sentiments Bombo.....on this forum however there is a culture developing that would rather see City win than play attracttive football and lose.

i think it's fairer to say there are differences of opinion as to what constitutes 'attractive' football. fwiw, at times last night I thought we played some lovely stuff, but we lost our way when they scored.

This. Before the first goal (which was totally against the run of play) and for long periods in the second half, I thought we played some cracking football, and managed to put the kind of pressure on Everton that only a top side would be able to do.

Once we start doing this on a regular basis (a la Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham this season), we'll hopefully be watching attractive AND successful football.

So depressing being a City fan at the moment, haven't felt this low in years.

Just done some really quick number crunching. This year in the prem under hughes we scored 36 goals in 17 games. Under Mancini we've scored 22 in 13. So there is a difference of a goal every 2nd game (rough calc). Both managers saw 2 wins each where City have scored 4 goals.

We have a much better shout of hitting 4th now than we did just before Christmas. Not sure what I've added to the debate because we all know we scored more goals under Hughes but I think Mancini is doing fine for now and he need a bit more credit for the general upturn in results (which is what ultimately wins you thing).
