A little indulgence. :-)

You know when they say; if you think you can't do it you won't/can't?
Well I thought this morning I couldn't do something, the item would be too heavy and cumbersome ...... BUT I DID IT.

I told myself if I didn't try I would never know. Plus if I tried and I couldn't do it I would just have to give in and ask for help.

Now I've got you intrigued haven't I? My microwave 'blew up' on Tuesday. Well I have had it for 20 years at least, maybe more. So I ordered a new one from John Lewis & Partners, (other stores are of course available) Click and Collect. Delivery would be next week.
It arrived at the TC shop yesterday....my car wouldn't start. Lovely AA man sorted it for me but told me to run it for at least an hour so I went for a nice ride out to the country. Too late when I got back, rush hour.
So after much one sided debate with myself I thought about what I would do. I'd moved the old one and it was heavy, but it didn't need moving far.
To cut a long story short.....ok at the back calm down the 'thank goodness for that's'...The lovely man at JL put it in my boot for me and when I got home, I prepared the route from my car to the front door and hallway.... You have arms and legs for a reason.. I carried it from car to hall, put it on the floor and pushed with my legs into the dining room (?) and took the wrapping off it in the box then pulled it into the kitchen in the box (down the step) and lifted it carefully on to the work surface. Eureka there it is fitted into its little corner of the kitchen up and running.

Just use your brain EB, it works sometimes.
I know I sound as if I am bragging, I apologise but there is no one around to tell and rightly or wrongly I am a teeny bit proud of myself after the 2 years I've had. Sorry. :-(

I am now going to sit down with a cuppa and a biscuit and watch City receive their trophy from last night!!!
I really thought this was heading along the lines of one of those 70s Confessions of a ... with Eccles being ravished by the delivery driver.

This is why we love you, you daft bugger!

I only use the microwave to reheat my cup of tea or coffee....and those frozen kebabs when I'm pissed.
*lol* I'll send you a medal. :-)
I do what I call a freezer bake/cook about once every 6 to 8 weeks. I cook various dishes, bolognaises, stews, tater 'ash, etc and freeze them. It saves on electricity for the oven, I save money buying larger packs of meat and veg and I pack it portion size into the freezer. Then when I am ready I either defrost overnight, and reheat on the stove or defrost and reheat in the microwave. So it is not a luxury, granted neither is it a necessity but it is a convenience. When you get to be a pensioner saving money becomes a priority sometimes. :-) And I was trained during the war years. (I hope you've got the violins out) I didn't see a banana until I was 22...and chocolate oh my goodness what was chocolate. (sarcasm comes naturally to some pensioners) :-) :-)

I thought you'd be using the Aga in the kitchen EB? Microwaves are what the plebs use to heat up their gruel in the mornings. I bet John Stones wouldn't lower himself to have a microwave in his country pile in Prestbury.

You cook what you want when you want Eccles, ignore the 5 star michelin chefs on here who don't use packet gravy but make vats of jus out of the best cuts just to put on their cornflakes and feed the Cat with ;)

Oh to have a kitchen large enough to have an Aga. My kitchen is tiny. My washing machine is in the bathroom because the bathroom is twice as big and a bit more!! House was built in 1898 or so!

But it’s mine, all mine, even the land it’s built on! I love my house. :-) I bought the Freehold years ago.
We have a high roller among us.
