a little something worth noting

It will be the results against our main rivals where it’s won and lost, starting with Spurs on Sunday. All teams will drop points and disappointing though they feel at the time, those odd points at WBA and Liverpool etc may turn out to be crucial. Look at Sunderland last year, or Fulham, they seemed like a bad result at the time, but turned out not to be.

they were bad results. if we'd have won both we would have pissed the league stead of a last kick of the game goal against a 10 man team

glad we won it but they werent good points

Look at the scum, lost 2 already but still top of the league, we need to start turning draws into wins, just one win out of the draws we have had and we would be top of the league, being unbeaten means nothing unless we win the league, and unfortunately draws are not good enough

We remain unbeaten, we win the league.

Not really sure what everyones crying about.

We're still on course.

You can remain unbeaten and be relegated

I think Ban-mcfc is taking the stance than we'll win more than we draw and as long as we do that we'll finish top of the pile. Can't say I agree (unless we take 12 points from United and Chelsea along the way perhaps) but it's food for thought.

What is true as many have pointed out is that at the moment we've won 60 percent of our games but drew 40 percent...carrying on the season like this (in the unlikely event of no improvement or no deterioration) would see us finish on about 83 points which whilst respectable wouldn't see us retain the title.

As stated in the original post Arsenal drew 30 percent of their games that season and finished on 90 points. Of course it was winning 70 percent of there games that won them the title though. The counter argument to draws being a good thing is Liverpools 2008-2009 season. Lost only 2 but 11 draws blew it for them. 25 wins (including two wins over the scum, who went on to win the title)

The worrying thing is that we only drew 5 games in total last season, of course we lost 5 so that's a total of ten games that didn't go our way. With 28 games remaining we need to make sure that that we don't let the draws turn into defeats whilst pushing to turn them into victories. We are in need of one of last season 6 or 7 straight wins. Think it will help moral and to lift the mood of the place.

The above is all hypothetical bollocks but it does show that a slight improvement (turning 3 or 4 potential draws into wins should see us retain it and also provide 'insurance' for the inevitable first defeat)
What seems to be irritating people most is the manner of our displays this season, not one player has stood out and we've dropped points from winning positions, not to mention luckless and limp champions league displays. Coupled that with the negative press/rumours surrounding the future of Mancini etc I myself find myself having to be defensive of City which has sucked a little amount of enjoyment out of the game so far. Got to have faith though blues!

The arsenal invincibles drew 12 games in the 2003-2004 season and finished on 90points . 3 of which came in the first 10 games. Now I'm not suggesting mancini and his band of merry men will repeat such a feat but I do think it affords some perspective on our clubs own situation. Being hard to beat is a valuable strength let's hope our attack and general play improves as the season develops.

Well the statter !

Looking at defeats instead, i always say if you loose more than 5 games in a season you aint going to win the league.... Whats the most games a team has lost but yet still won the PL ?
5 and 6 are the most common two 'games lost' numbers for champions since the Prem became 20 teams.

2011-12 - City (5)
2010-11 - United (4)
2009-10 - Chelsea (6)
2008-09 - United (4)
2007-08 - United (5)
2006-07 - United (5)
2005-06 - Chelsea (5)
2004-05 - Chelsea (1)
2003-04 - Arsenal (0)
2002-03 - United (5)
2001-02 - Arsenal (3)
2000-01 - United (6)
1999-2000 - United (3)
1998-99 - United (3)
1997-98 - Arsenal (6)
1996-97 -United (5)
1995-96 - United (6)

5 losses= 6 times
6 losses= 4 times
3 losses= 3 times
4 losses= twice
1 loss= once
0 losses= once

Nobody has kept their games lost column down to below 4 for seven years now.

...but if we had lost just one of those games rather than drew, we wouldn't have won the title. Upon reflection therefore, they must be 'good' points. By contrast, Utd's defeat against Wigan was a bad loss. Had they have scrambled a point, they would have won the league.

The fact is that picking up a point at a ground where we could easily drop all three is not necessarily as bad as it seems at the time. Dropping points at home is a very different matter, but, as we all know, we don't do that very often.
