I'm 20 years old, and although I have never seen my team lift a cup, I have often felt pride for my club, pride in supporters, players, performances. The kind of pride that makes me want to grab people in the street and say: "I'm a City fan and I want the world to know."
The years have been long and torturous on the many fans like me. Every day, we talk to United fans, Arsenal fans, Chelsea fans, Liverpool fans. Every day, we have to put up with their patronising remarks. Every day we stand up tall, look them in the eye and tell them: "You'll never understand what it's like to be blue."
Many of us have waited our whole lives, for one moment which has never arrived, never giving up hope, always filled with optimism. We never ask when our loyalty will be rewarded. We don't expect much in return. All we ask is that every man wearing sky blue goes out there and wears their heart on their sleeve, like thousands of us do every day.
Our heads never drop, through disappointment, untold joy, anger, relief. Every day, we stand up tall...
So stand up tall City, for everybody out there who's been waiting for that moment, that elation, that retribution. Stand up tall, look them in the eye, and scream your heart out:
"We are Manchester City, and we want the world to know!"
