A message to those going to the West Ham game

The reason it's premature is because it will likely be buried down the forum somewhere in 10 days' time. If this is to serve as a reminder to people then it needs to come close to the event.

The Pellegrini send-off was problematic because they spent bloody ages before bringing him out to say goodbye. People just won't wait around for 40 minutes if there's no silverware at the end of it all. I understand too why people are cynical about football and the game should expect nothing from the people who pay to watch it.

Yes the Pellegrini last game was a total farce. Quite a few stayed but it dragged on forever and nobody seemed to know what was happening. Once people started drifting off it became a flood.

If it's a disappointing end to the league campaign I fear a fair few empty seats on the day. If it's all on that game obviously it will be packed. As for staying if we don't get over the line and win it I think a lot won't bother. Remember quite a few buggered off in 2012 and although it looked a hopeless case it was still in the balance then. We also have another big game to go, the cup final.

We’ll win the league and lift the trophy in front of a full house in the sunshine.

I ain’t contemplating anything but.

It wasn’t even the last game of the season for Pellegrini. He got a nice little send off at Swansea in his last game.

Also, if you want people to hang around after full time for a lap of honour when there’s no trophy to celebrate, do the lap of honour straight after the final whistle. Not after you’ve fucked off for half an hour first.

A big difference this year is it is a week before a cup final against our hated rivals so the season will be very much alive. FOCs like me might remember the last game of the 1972 season against eventual champions Derby County. We won 2 0 I think and Maine Rd was absolutely bouncing, in spite of the fact we had no chance of the title, we finished fourth the reception we gave the team was amazing. Different ground different times, we had blown a five point lead to finish a point behind Derby but far from sulking we celebrated a fantastic season. Wish we could lose the sense of entitlement which infects many of our fan base.

99% of people who will be the game don't read this forum so your msg isn't getting to anyone. People won't stay if we haven't won the title they will leave as they would normally do for a league game, maybe even sooner.
That’s the fucking spirit
