Why is a straight choice between Upson and Terry? It seems that it's you thats taken in by the galactico names being banded around.

Terry has been linked to us, plus Terry and Ferdinand are keeping Upson out of the England side hence the use of these two Galacticos. I notice you didn't quote my reference to Lescott.

Anyway, Upson is viewed by Capello as the third best English defender in the league (Carragher apart). He has vast premier league experience and has been part of a team that finished above us. He is left footed which is something we don't have in that department and has been an obvious weak point at the back. He would improve our team.

And you're certainly entitled to have an opinion that he would be good for our sqaud at this stage of our development. I didn't quote Lescott because it's not relevant. If Capello choose Upson over Lescott then good for him. It certainly doesn't affect my opinion (note my opinion not Capellos opinion), and as it happens I'd prefer that we sign neither Lescott or Upson.

When people say they are disappoint with the likes of Upson and RSC can they please put alternatives rather than just say we could do better. Of course better players are around, but what if they don't want to come to us at this stage?

Just accept that people have different opinions to you. If they want to quote alternatives they will, but it's unlikely with you telling everyone to grow up and stop playing FM just because they have an opinion that isn't shared by you.

Upson is a top quality defender, and an improvement on what we have got.

Most City fans will expect Hughes to strengthen the defence, and it's already clear that he's targetting players with Premiership experience. lescott and Luisao are 2 alternatives that have been mentioned in the media, but moyes says he wont sell any of his players.

I think Arsenal are in the market for a central defender as well, and it wouldn't surprise me if Upson goes back to Arsenal

Not really bothered about Upson either way, but central defenders aren't past their best at 29. He's got at least 3 or 4 more decent years in him.

Jo looked a very exciting player in a foreign League, but struggled to adapt.

Central defender is such an important position, relying so much on communication and understanding with other players, that it's a big risk bringing in a foreign player......worked for Utd with Vidic, but the Premiership is such a physical League in comparison with other Leagues that it's very risky.

Of course Moomba, but its got to the stage with me where there is a lot of drivel on here and people expect us to have THE BEST two players in the world in every position almost. Opinions are formed off computer games and Youtube.

They expect us to go to chelsea and say name your price for Terry, go to Liverpool and say the say about Tores etc etc. They don't see why we will not get 90% of these players at this stage and they moan about established players such as Upson. I mean people are happy about Barry but lets be honest there are many that think "yeah good buy, but when are the stars coming in!"
