A Muslim's Response...

The fact he is religious makes him stupid by default.

Yes it does. Stupid like Kepler, Descartes, Newton, Al-Khwarizmi, Aquinas, Khaldun, Galileo, Planck, Mendel, Pascal, Rutherford, Stokes, Pasteur...

He's talking about empiricism, but he doesn't know it.

Scientists and philosophers can choose to believe, but they do so knowing that there is no evidence to support their faith, nor crucially, is any required.

London has a 36.2% foreign-born population. Relatively, that is fifteen times the population of foreigners in Dresden. A far greater diversity. Ukip poll the lowest in London compared to the rest of the country- in every demographic, foreign or not. London is a metropolis of brown, black, and white working side by side. We thrive.

There is some dispute about how well UKIP did in London, but even if you accept a low UKIP poll in the Capital, with a 36.2% foreign born population and some with first generation offspring, is it hardly surprising?

I live in Norfolk, we probably have one of the lowest ethnic minoroty populations in the country but UKIP is rampant here, the buggers are everywhere.

Did you actually read the letter?

Like the Man City owners ?

Sadly yes as they believe in something without a shred of evidence to back it up. If I said I believed in fairies you would think I was stupid too.

You don't need to believe in fairies for anyone to think that.....

I see the author unwittingly forgot to condemn, the mass muslim rallies, spewing hatred against the west in their host cities.Maybe that's just media propaganda.Nothing new to see here.

Yes, The poster is stating that in Dresden and elsewhere, where there is little ethnic diversity, anti Muslim and anti immigrant views flourish, yet in cosmopolitan places like London where it's the League of Nations everyone rubs along and UKIP is weak.

You might say Norfolk is like Dresden in that way.

But my point is that it could be argued that with such a large ethnic minority population, that is unlikely to vote UKIP, why is it a surprise they do badly? And while it is no surprise to anyone in the real world why the likes of backwaters like Norfolk and Dresden get all white and provincial, it doesn't account for the spikes in support for the BNP in places like Bradford, I lived there for a long time, people don't rub along there in one multi cultural melting pot believe me.

So proximity can bring about cosmopolitan harmony, or it can bring about division.

The single biggest balm is prosperity and equality, if there is stable, reasonably well paid semi skilled and unskilled work, with access to housing and education then most of the issues around religion and race evaporate.

In Norfolk you've got the echoes of the League of Empire loyalists and the epitome of small town provincialism, out here they still think decimalisation is a European plot.

Religious faith, by its very nature, is a belief that is not based on proof.

That is a very convenient answer that must have been thought up by a religious person who had been put on the spot.

close second to "God works in mysterious ways"

both total bollocks by the way

A decent editor/proof reader would have found the errors and inconsistencies and they would probably have got a decent piece out of it. Shame that it falls flat.

Agreed, this "why don't we all just get along" and "you'd like us if you knew us" and it's all down to "your" ignorance is all a bit Kumbaya for me.

I don't believe in a sky god any more than you do, but stating that faith does not require empirical evidence to sustain it, is simply stating a fact, nothing more.

That's Norfolk for you

That's all well and good, and yes extreme far right are all muppets (nothing new there) as much as the far left, but many Muslims don't help themselves by pretty much segregating themselves and wanting their children (through faith schools) and women to have nothing to do with anyone of a different faith or no faith.
I think it's hard wired in to human psyche to be suspicious of groups that don't integrate

Thing is, those 'anti-islam' demonstrators in Germany are actually neo-Nazis who just happen to have found a new outlet. Been following this closely due to having lived in both Leipzig and Dresden in the past. The lot of them are complete knobheads. This has nothing to do with Islam, rather hatred towards all immigrants with a different skin colour.

If that's the way the person who wrote the open letter feels, then go to the middle east or North Africa and preach it.
They would not last 2 minutes.

What is not reported is the amount of Christians who have been slaughtered (rape and tortured) and places of worship burnt down.
This has been going on for decades.

Also I have read some of the Quran and it is quite disturbing especially against the Jews.

London is one of the exceptions where a large diversity of people live, work and seem to mix Etc.

In most of the other places around the country, Indian's, Pakistani's, Polish and Northern African's Etc. All live and mix in one area and don't integrate with the local community.

My own views. I'm not racist and have a mix of friends and colleagues who are from all walks of life.

Which "mass muslim rallies" might these be, I seem to have missed them?

And yet another decent BM thread degenerates into
a) All religious people including our owners are thick.
b) All Muslims in non European cities hates us.

and it only took 4 pages. Great.
