A night with Les Chapman.

I don't believe his list of players, from the sounds of things he's rattled that off just to reinforce his own personal dislike. It doesn't tally with what I've been told nor media comments which seem to support I've been told. I've been told that Kompany and Silva were the ones who genuinely were threatening to leave, with Yaya in Mancini's corner for most of the time (which makes sense because Yaya always got Mancini's full backing) but progressively less so until ambivalence by the time he was sacked but never against him so far as I know. Aguero I have no reason to doubt was always agnostic and just kept his head down. For the reason being that he didn't mention Kompany, the main man, but did mention two players I don't think or have any reason to believe were part of a dressing room revolt, I don't believe that list. It sounds too offhand, like I hate Mancini, [insert important players] would have left.

Chappy never won us the league and wouldn't have a clue what it takes to manage a football team.

But is an ex pro and ex manager who had fuck all to spend at his two previous clubs when he was manager.

Can anyone corroborate this? Seems unlikely to me that someone like Chappy who's been at City as long as he has, would ever be as open about his negative feelings about any manager. Also it's not really something which I think is necessary for him to say so long after Mancini's gone.

Having said all that, another example of why Mancini was so universally disliked by the people who had to deal with him on a day to day basis.
It's not an example, it's what we already knew. This is not new information. Chappy has spoken on Mancini before, all of it negative.

I still wonder who on the inside was leaking stories to the press about the previous management team specially as we hear very little about current regime.
Also heard the players mentioned would have left the club had Bobby stayed - but with his blessing as he believed they felt winning the league once was enough, time will tell.

I think this thread gives you your answer to that question for sure.

It doesn't matter in itself that Les didn't like him but if senior players and executives felt the same way then surely even you can see there might be problems?

Of course it's not good if senior players and executives hated the manager, but I am not sure that was the case either and that isn't what this thread is about anyway. Hate is a dumb word for Chapman to use and stinks of kids in playgrounds, and, frankly PB, there is a huge disconnect in making a link between a kit man's view and what senior players and executives think. This is about a kit man who, even though he may be a dressing room character, is just a kit man. Trying to dress it up as another example of why Mancini was disliked is nonsense, designed to provoke and I thought the kind of comment that a mod recently said we should be avoiding.

Even after the sick swan at the swamp, Micah could only bring himself to shout the first two syllables of Mancinis name.

MANCHEEN.........

Very telling, if you ask me....

Am I the only one who doesn't ''get'' this Les Chapman thing?
He is the kit manager (lord of the laundry????) and he gets a tribute game in his honour and now a night out with Les?
So he's a ''funny bloke'', great. How much is he on a year for being kit manager?
I'm sure the club has many unsung heroes and life long Blues too (is Janice still working in the souvenir shop?) that deserve more of a platform than Les.
Never met the bloke and have nothing against him, I'm sure he is a great kit manager (whatever that means) but does it warrant all these tributes?

Apart from my wife and 20 million women, who else would want to wash Kun's shorts? I know I wouldn't, the guy deserves a medal.

But on a serious note every company needs someone like Les who brings a smile to other colleagues faces and a warmer atmosphere around the place, its not just about the tireless effort of the kit lads as much as how they go about it. ADUG always wanted to keep the local club mentality and rightly see people like Les a key factor in maintaining our origins.

I have no problems with Les, if anything I wish I had his position at city. As hard as it must be, it must be a buzz some days.

Good luck to him and the others that make city tick.

What harm does it do for a firm to recognise a very good employee Mr H? I'm sure, knowing what you and your Mrs do for a living, a boss who recognised you and appreciated you would make you feel a little better about your exhausting day a head? I know after 25 years working for my service my boss would even know me or give two shits if I left tomorrow other than the slight inconvenience it would cause to the running of his service. I'd love to work for a company that thanked it staff for hard work.

I and some friends went to a function last night in honor
of city's Kit man Les Chapman hosted by Ian cheeseman.
and one question he was ask was,
What are your views on Mancini and the success we had under him.

And i was staggered to her him say, He hated then man couldn't stand
him, His words not mine, and that in all the time he was there they
never spoke a single word to each other.
and if he had stayed the likes of, silva. Aguero. and Toure
would have left.

For me dear old Les came across as a very bitter and twisted man,
For me i will always very grateful for the success Mancini brought to city.

Totally unprofessional behaviour from Les, he should have waited until he published his autobiography :)

He should stick to pulling stupid faces washing socks and shut the fuck up about things that don't concern him.

This is the bottom line. If he is to be rolled out as a representative of the club, then he needs to act the part.
