scrumming down with Bobby McDonald
...lets learn from previous seasons and hold Blue nerve, ignore spin and constant undermining efforts whilst staying resolute in the face of tough challenges - patience, if we don't play like Barca, and show understanding of a team still gelling but with the knowledge for sure that a serious assault on the rag scum's title is imperative now.

The season is long - well at least a month can go by without DD sledging into Bobby Manc at the first fookkin opportunity;)

Butterflies - in 24 hours i will be just getting home from our first game, and all being well 3 points. I have complete faith in RM - i just hope he doesnt become a victim of politics and egos at the club.

Don't be stupid Matt. Where's the fun in that? We don't want to be like RAWK.

Hello mate - ding ding round 1, can't believe its coming round again already. Unreal new team we've got to look forward to - time the pressure is dealt with now and we begin to play on another level...

No chance mate. It's been going on all pre-season and will continue to do so until Mourinho is (if) in charge.

You do know you just posted this on Bluemoon right?

After seeing the top contenders for the title this year, we should be having it.

I'm sorry, but it's time. It's fucking time. This season. We have the players and a manager with a pedigree to deliver.

No excuses for anyone anymore.

Time to fuck off all those pricks who said City can't do it or laugh at our spending. I'm tired of listening to it. We have 9 months to end it.

Are you doing DD's dirty work in his absence? :)

-- Mon Aug 15, 2011 12:08 am --

A lot shit off the media I can take. Id it gets too stupid I'll ignore it. I don't read or buy newspapers, I don't watch sky sports news nor do i listen to TalkSport. My exposure to horseshit is quite low so it doesn't bother me.

Bluemoon though after a defeat or even just a poor performance is the most ridiculous scene going. Full of stupid posts. I seriously can't be doing with it. Knowing I'm fans of the same club as some of the people who come on here after a defeat takes the shine off this club a little. So I stay well clear after games for a few days.

We're not even established as a top three side yet. We've finished up here once (and only three times since the war). So let's just concentrate on what we do to establish ourselves up here again and not worry about anyone else. If that means 3rd again then great I'll be buzzing with that, 2nd yeah even better, champions I will cry with joy. But for me it's not clear that we have the best team or squad, I don't give a fucking shit how much money someone cost us or how much we've spent overall; it doesn't mean we should be doing this and that, it just means we have an expensive squad. Barcelona have a squad that cost about £50m tops and they're possibly the beat team ever!

Last season we were average a lot. We were rarely shite and rarely brilliant. And there was a lot wrong with us:
20th in the league at scoring in the last ten minutes
Shocking away record against the top half teams
SHITE against the top 6 away (W0 D2 L3 F1 A8 Pts2/15) we didn't even try to attack let alone create chances or score goals against top six sides away from home
We let too many teams have too long on the ball
We aren't ruthless enough
Sometimes we'll be happy to sit on a 1-0 lead
We scored just 60 goals last season (the average for league champions since it became 20 teams is 78.4 goals a season)
Poor away in Europe (P5 W1 D2 L2 F3 A7)
Not enough tempo at times
No pace in the squad
No counter attack game
A lack of creativity
etc etc etc

Of course we have a lot of good points, more than bad. But in three months do people seriously think all of these areas will have been addressed and improved? Even if every one has, some wont be a dramatic improvement. I have said all along, since the day Sheikh Mansour rook over, that we wont be at the height of the revolution until 2013. Some said that was a stupid amount of time and we should be doing this and that now(!) but 2013 is only 16 months away now. Leading up to then, and even possibly for a while after, we'll be a working progress. A lot of people can't get this into their swedes though and the shit they talk is unbelievable in their overreactions to defeats whilst not understanding we aren't THAT* good yet (although we are good and are getting better).

I'm trying to enjoy every minute of this trip and people whinging because their expectations are too high as they expect us to be PNE or Arsenal without even having addressed all of them points above, bring me down a bit.

well being one mortal soul who was away to Wycombe & Millwall back in the dark ages I dont state this lightly when sayin this is a top post

Can we also have the South Stand and the Kippax working in unison?

Other than "shall we show you how it's done" for the Poz (which is brilliant) - it seems that too much time is spent taking the piss and not enough time spent working together to get the atmosphere sorted. Perhaps chiefs of staff could arrange a pre-match meet in what was the Queen Vic to agree logistics?

Oh and whilst we are on the subject, could we please ensure that - if it is to continue to be circulated across the Colin Bell stand - the MCFC flag is appropriately laundered pre-match.

Great post. A manager needs at least three full seasons before you can really see the results of his work, which will be next season for us.

However doesn't mean we can't criticise things that can be put right quickly or poor performances.

I like constructive criticism. But some people are silky with what they come out with after we don't play well.

I meant that season too. The season was a lot shorter then - with 22 matches with PNE winning eighteen. I expect us to match that tally (albeit with 38 games available). Just a bit of geeky statto humour. ;-)
