i really should be somewhere else
Kaspar Schmiechel & Daniel Sturridge at Wembley, Ryan Mcgiveren clean sheet for N.Ireland, Glenn Whelan captain of Eire and Emyr Huws debut for Wales. Take a bow Sir. You should be proud tonight. Of your era you were as important as Sheik Monsour is now. Saved the club Abbiss to where we are now. 2nd biggest shoes to fill in football behind whiskey nose.

Don't know if Boyatta in Belgium squad and half of Burnleys defence seem premier league bound all signed by Cassell and developed at Platt Lane also. If not working for City now should certainly be advisor for England and Academies in general.

A great servant to the club, he did fantastic work with the youth setup.

Yes. Loved watching his youth teams play the great football that was a consistent style. Could have become an "Holistic" approach!

I'm sorry but there's nothing to be proud about Glenn Whelan for. He's shite. I was at the game last night and Matic basically showed him the ultimate disrespect of just leaving him alone to deal with the awesome(irony) Wes Hoolahan.

Did a great job for where we were at the time but only sturridge of those mentioned is good enough to get near our team. Huws i believe was signed after Cassell was moved upstairs.

What you mean he didn't bring in an Aguero or Yaya Toure?

Its fairly obvious what i mean - he brought one player through who would get near our first team now.

I'm sorry, he may not be top class, but to get released by City after not playing a first team game (I could be wrong about that), make good in the lower leagues, become an established regular in a PL side, become a regular international and then captain your country suggests quite a lot to be proud of for the lad himself, his family and the club who put him on that path.

What's not to be admired about that? I wish more of our academy lads over the last 10 years had achieved what Glenn Whelan has achieved.

Sturridge is so greedy he wouldn't get near our team. Watch Liverpool and pay close attention to how often Gerrard and Suarez moan at him for taking the selfish option.

Mercenaries, the pair of them.

Sturridge aside, the rest of them should be the bare bare minimum for an academy the size of City's with the resources and catchment area we have and have had since 1998. Nothing to shout about.

He was good at producing athletes with no tecnical ability - Richards, Ned, Ishmael Miller etc. The fact that he only brought through Sturridge, Ireland and M Johnson with anything like decent technique in 10 years is pretty poor.
