A question for fans of City retro shirts

Pretty sure that in the last couple of years there's already been a retro one of the 81 shirt - a not very realistic one of the 81 cup final iirc..

Though i could be dreaming that ;)

(edit to add that i'm not imagining it, it's here! <a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manchester-City-Centenary-Final-Shirt/dp/B00ASLOO8K" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manchester-City ... B00ASLOO8K</a> )
The blue was too dark and the 1981 FA Cup final wasn't the Centenary Cup Final as embroidered on the shirt.

Could have been great that one, but essentially it was all wrong!

I just went on that site to see which other City shirts they had for sale.
One City shirt and 44 scum shirts? What's that all about? They even have two Newton Heath shirts.

77/78 for me as well.

Got to say I'm surprised that the old West Gorton black shirt doesn't seem to be available. I don't wear replica kits nowadays but if I did that would be one I'd like to have...especially if I could get it signed by the first team to wear it.

Thanks for your vote and toffs sell the gorton shirt <a class="postlink" href="http://www.toffs.com/gorton-fc-1884-manchester-city-retro-football-shirt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.toffs.com/gorton-fc-1884-man ... ball-shirt</a>

You can get them from ebay not sure how good they are !!

Thanks for the link. I never check Toffs as don't wear football shirts anymore. Unlikely to buy it myself but you never know.

Might be splitting hairs but don't think the umbro single diamond sleeve and umbro double sleeve diamond were just cotton shirts think they were a mix of something ? Think the cotton shirts were around 73 ish

Think they were made from a blend of cotton with a bit of polyester blended in, and the fabric had tiny 'breathing' holes in it. Like the kit you would wear at school.

The replica shirts Umbro did in the late 70s had the round club badge, whilst the official players shirt had the crest as modelled by WD in the photo.

Cotton shirts are always better than polyester I think, since they are to be worn socially or on holiday etc, and cotton doesn't make your nipples bleed.

You'll have a job, they're all dead.....

77/78

I also absolutely loved the dark blue shirt with the red and white sash. I had one back then but it didn't have any badge or makers insignia on it.

Keep the votes coming although it's looking like a runaway victory for the 77/78 shirt, I'll let everyone know when the shirt will be available but from what I've heard it's scheduled for the new year.
