Unfortunately UEFA will not allow that.
They will count sponsorships etc. only if they are paid at market rates, any huge sponsorship will have be fully explained.

Get you're point, but how the hell can you define market rates, especially in europe. The premiership is the number one league in the world, so sponsorship will be a lot more expensive than it would be in France, or Holland. I always find it amusing that anyone thinks that our owner hasn't already dealt with the UEFA issues's.

They have VOOMER I am sure of that , what I am not sure of is whether FIFA will be able to implement what they intend to do and find it amusing that they focus only on turnover and transfer fees.

As I said before no side in our lifetime will not be allowed to enter the Chumps League because they do not make a loss of less than a certain figure on income vis a vis transfer fee expenditure over a given time.

If they are worried about transfer fees and wage payments as a percentage of revenue they can bite the bullet and do what is necessary rather than the micky mouse suggestions they have released through the media so far.

A lot of governments are carrying deficits and have public debt that they cannot service without GMF intervention and goodwill on behalf of all lenders to see them through.

Once debt to GDP for the large spending nations of the wall is brought into line them FIFA have some credence in attempting to place fair and equitable financial restrictions on all clubs to reign in the spiraling debt that clubs are now in most of them mind you the same clubs that are in the chumps league year in year out.

Whats to stop us getting say 30 sponsors? All with say 30 mill over 5 years

Is there a limit to the number of sponsors a team has?

No but a limit on shirt size and ground signage etc.

Clearly the more successful the team on the pitch the more corporates will want to be part of the success story.

I think FIFA is worried about the size and number of transfers and private ownership of football clubs in general but its all a matter of scale and what they should be looking at is the level of debt each club has and their ability to service it without the need for broadcast rights.

Imagine what would happen if networks decided that showing recorded soap operas was and could be with clever marketing more prudent for their bottom line than showing live Chumps league football.

There's nothing wrong with blind optimism, like some of the blues have posted on this thread. But I really think it is make or break for us over the next two seasons.

We have to win titles and trophies to increase our worldwide brand image, which could then attract the large sponsorship deals. And even then it is not guaranteed.

Chelsea have failed to break America and still play to empty stadiums every pre-season. They have done nothing in Asia as well. In terms of our worldwide brand, we are not even in the top 15 of football clubs. And if you think we are, then have a wee think about the likes of our competition... Madrid, the Rags, Barca, Milan, Inter, Dippers, Juve, Bayern, Ajax, Arsenal, Chelsea, Roma, Benfica, Lazio, Spartak Moscow, Lyon, Marseille, Valencia....

Last month we played Sporting Lisbon in the US. They had more supporters than we did. We might have the money and the contacts now, but you can't make people support you and part with their cash. It's too late, the market is swamped already.

If the outgoing wage bill is more than what we are bringing in, then we will have to sell players to ballance the books. Selling players is a bad thing, look at the dippers!

I'm sure that Cook has has plan up his sleave, but we won't be the only ones saying 'tick tock' now!

Anyway, does anyone else think f**k the champions league? The domestic treble will do me quite fine!

As I posted earlier, I really don't think this will be a problem for us. I'm sure the owners have thought this through to the nth degree. As an aside, do the players actually have to show up fully on City's books? Can they not get some of their wages from the club, and the rest from one of the sheik's other companies? Before professionalism in Rugby Union, players in New Zealand, who were well known, would be employed as "ambassadors" by companies such as insurance companies. All they would need to do was turn up to a few functions every year and glad hand a few movers and shakers. Well worth it to the companies concerned for publicity reasons. Why couldn't this work in football? Just a thought.

Does this mean Barça, Real Madrid and Milan will get banned as they cinsistently spend more than they earn and are bailed out by government and/or local council.
Really dont think they will.

This again.

The answer is simple and beautifully paradoxical. All we do is get a huge loan and go into debt. As long as we can afford the interest payment from our turnover we pass the test. Every now and again write the debt off and get a slapped wrist.

The rules were brought in to protect United and Madrid against us...so we copy them and there's NOTHING UEFA can do.

Not ideal but certainly the answer. Zero percent loan from the Bank of Abu Dhabi anyone ;-)

Really dont think they will.

This is where the plan fails. If the big guys are being effected by it, they'll change it - simples. Money talks and size is important and when Real Madrid, Barca, Utd, Inter, Bayern and City threaten a breakaway, Platini will fill his French surrender monkey knickers and we'll be back to normal. We may have to endure a year or two of it, but that's the limit.
