I think it is fair too early to say at the minute. So far we're creating more chances but scoring less than united (although our gd is far superior to anyone in the league) but we are also conceding less chances than United.
I've been really amazed at how well we've been playing but we need to be more clinical and ruthless when on top otherwise we could turn into Arsenal (I can already think of 'easy' chances missed by Kun, Dzeko, Lescott etc). United's style of play potentially could secure them more tight wins over the season when they are not playing well (ie. against West Brom) because they play the simple game well - alot of the goals against Bolton were pretty identical (cross from wide - tap in).
What has been impressive for me this year is our ability to keep the ball in the opposition third and move teams around with our passing and movement. We retain possession of the ball in much more dangerous areas than last season - if we keep that level of play high and we keep shooting then we'll do ok ;)
Big tests for me though are the away games after the Champs League plus Stoke and Everton away (plus the obvious against the 'big 4')
