I think a centre back is up there for what we need. But I watch a lot of football and can't think of an obvious candidate.
Bonucci would be one, but he's right sided like all ours he's not natural on the left. He'd need to adapt to a much quicker league than Italy and Juve enjoy a Rags like status and I fear all his cynical defending may suffer stronger punishment in our shirt.

I also think the defending improved greatly after Christmas and two top class full back would help greatly.

Can't disagree with that. I struggle to find defenders full stop. The way Juve play, is not the way City play.

Van Dijk has done pretty well in the Prem & is big & quick, still unproven at our level, but still, he has a pretty good case for being the strongest candidate, yet the rumours seem to have died re him & City.
 
After 10 years in the making, we will next season have the right manager & squad to be the best in Europe.

I think we may wait and see what or presents themselves, in a true Pep system which with the players looking likely we should see, I think Fernandinho would be more than capable of dropping in.
Stones needs games, he also needs to improve which I think he is doing, Otamendi and I'm not his biggest fan is top end in his position and Kompany is just about the best and Kolarov did pretty well.

I think we might see a Pepe or similar for a year, someone with experience and Komany's aggression and leadership qualities.

If Tosin signs a new deal and stays then he has to be considered a senior CB option surely?

Otherwise what is the actual point in him? Doesn't play EDS games, doesn't play senior games. Just keeps Sterling company on Snapchat.

I appreciate he's not going to be thrown into the cup final or a league decider immediately, but as a 4th CB who gets introduced over the first few months of the season.

Otherwise I don't see any logic in offering him a new deal.

IMO him and Kolarov together represent 1 CB, and then we have the other 3 and a few players who could drop in if needed.

I could actually imagine Pepe being on the radar & it kicking off royal on here, but although his form may have dipped, he has experience you can't reproduce in a young player & he has always been a huge level above Demichelis, who turned out to be a great signing, for one season.

The response on here would be hilarious.
