They should not have done so. It was a serious error of judgement IMO. Not least because it gives credence to the idea that protests should be allowed, when in fact they should not. We have 125,000 people dead and counting due to COVID and like it or not, agree with it or not, we have lockdown rules that should be adhered to because it's the law.Why did the police allow gatherings in Glasgow and Nottingham then, why did the police there not act as you say.
Because the actions in Bristol are a direct action against the Government and that will not be tolerated and that is why we are heading to totalitarianism.
I thought the Sarah Everard event did only get stopped when people did start making anti-government speeches. They should not have done so. It was a serious error of judgement IMO. And were the Sarah Everard protests "against the government"? Why did they get stamped out then?
You're looking for bias and injustices which don't exist mate. The fact is the BLM protests should not have been allowed, and neither the Glasgow or Nottingham ones. It's been a fuck up to allow any of them.
It seems to be difficult with all the protests that end badly to be sure if it was the protestors or police that did something to send things from vigil to violence. Further complicated by the fact that protestors by definition have to push the boundaries a bit for it ro be a protest and the police have to keep order. I suppose many protests end up finely balanced between these competing tensions, and as we've seen sometimes it goes wrong.I thought the Sarah Everard event did only get stopped when people did start making anti-government speeches.
Police arrest violent mob all of whom *checks notes* have their hands in the air...not sure Reuters framing is living up to their photo.
Perhaps they were being ‘ironic’ :)
Ah, that infamous night where the police suffered ‘terrible injuries’...
Do you remember this one in 2008. Injuries included "stung on finger by possible wasp," "injured sitting in car" and "toothache."
Ah, that infamous night where the police suffered ‘terrible injuries’...
Police using national press, social media and state broadcaster to spread propaganda and blatant lies in a bid to influence the gullible..Illegal protesters refusing to move, get injured when forcibly removed. Quelle surprise. I am sure we're all having sleepless nights over that.

Sure, the setting fire to police vans and smashing up the police station was in fact done by the police themselves in order to paint the people who weren't there in the worst possible light.Police using national press, social media and state broadcaster to spread propaganda and blatant lies in a bid to influence the gullible..
They are anti-Tory-government mate. Good enough for Bob.“Ten people were arrested for offences including violent disorder, assaulting an emergency worker and possession of Class A drugs,” the local Avon and Somerset Police Superintendent Mark Runacres said in the statement.
“Items, including glass bottles and bricks were thrown at officers, fireworks were launched at our mounted section while one of our horses was also covered with paint,”
Those are some very fine people to defend....

Yeh but an unnamed NHS source that definitely exists and is completely credible said no police were injured so they’re actually heroes in many ways.“Ten people were arrested for offences including violent disorder, assaulting an emergency worker and possession of Class A drugs,” the local Avon and Somerset Police Superintendent Mark Runacres said in the statement.

How does your neighbour know this? They are anti-Tory-government mate. Good enough for Bob.
Incidentally, I gather from chatting to the next door neighbour yesterday that of those arrested, precisely 1 came from the South West. All of the others were trucked in by rent-a-mob.
