Ok my fellow Blue's, I truly believe that come the summer we will actually look back on this season as one of transition.

If we start with the debacle of last summer, Bobby had a list of transfer targets that he knew would move the squad forward. Now for a number of reasons (Marwood included) we did not achieve any of those signings.

We instead got Garcia, Sinclair, Rodwell & Nastasic. Now out of those signings only Nastasic has cemented his position within the first team.

The next one is the failure of the champions league campaign, although we were a tad unlucky in madrid, we made tactical mistakes and were made to look ordinary in the remaining games. Now although bobby has to live with those mistakes he was not helped with the transfers that came in.

Now had we actually qualified from that group, i do believe that we would now be strengthening the squad in the January window, allowing us to progress in the knock-out stages of the competition.

Because we did not qualify, The owners, including Soriano & Txiki know that we have a squad available that still that can achieve at least one trophy this season. It will either be retaining the Premier league title or winning the FA Cup or hopefully both.

Also because we do not have extensive experience of qualifying for european football, we are not ranked highly by UEFA. Our current position this moment is ranked number 19. So we will have to again be aware that we will be in a tough group come next seasons campaign.

In terms of potential signings, I believe that Txiki is currently looking to recruit players whilst also looking to trim the squad. This will mean moving players out from the team roster that are surplus to requirements. Then bringing in talented younger players that can be signed on a fee and wage that does not outweigh what their contribution to the team will be.

Txiki actually carried out the same when he took over the same role at Barcelona, and he will be looking to do the same here.

The other situation is regarding our manager. I along with many appreciate all that Bobby has brought and achieved with our club.

This though does not mean that come the summer we may or may not, replace him with Pep. We are constantly linked with Pep due to his past links with Soriano & Txiki, and we will hear alot more till he actually joins a club.

Now i am not bothered whether we stick or replace Bobby. I believe that the people running our club know what direction they are taking our club in and what the next stage of development that will occur. Whoever is in charge will recieve my full support.

Now I do feel that because Pep is available both soriano & txiki will have looked at maybe bringing him in - i could be wrong but I do think they would have discussed it between themselves at the very least.

Come this summer whoever is in charge, the next stage of development will occur and we will have learnt lessons from last summer when so many mistakes were made.

Great post, i like the details in your way on thinking. The next 3 seasons will be so important to us as a club with the development of campus taking shape and the image of the club starts to expands abroad and at home too.

Manager:

I Love what RM has done for us and the level we are now playing at. In the league we are doing much better than if we had wasted time with Hughes. I hope he can stay and work with the new setup on moving the club forward however, i deeply feel that he does not buy into the long term vision the club has by that i mean RM wants to always spend spend spend and guess what FFP will not let us getaway with that.

That said, lets not be fooled into thinking that he is not talking to other clubs like he did last summer. we need to have a plan in place because after all business is business and our club must always come first and what is best for our club must always be first in our owners mind, eyes and hearts.

Squad:

I love the Jose approach where he goes with a first team squad of 22 players and if injuries call upon the academy players. yes he spends money but he structures his squad quite well and everyone in the squad knows who is competing with who.

Mario = Out
Bridge = Out
RSC = Out
Garcia= Out
Sinclair= Out
Rodwell=Out
Maicon = Out

The main thing for me is how our momentum seems to be continually stifled. Whenever we've looked like we're picking up steam something happens to set us back. Start the season, Aguero out. Maicon looking to offer us a genuine plan B against Spurs, injured and out before we can take it further. Looking good at Newcastle, Nasri, key to the revival, out (twice that's happened too IIRC). Aguero comes back and starts looking excellent, out again. Yaya to Acon. Looking brilliant today and Vinny gets sent off. It just feels like set back after set back after set back.

Even with a crap summer and the managers future unsure, taking the exact same team from last season and being able to keep them together for a run of games without some bollocks decision or injury splitting them up would see us ahead of where we are now.

That said, we shouldn't really worry what the outcome of this season is, or next season, or even the one after that. We don't even need to justify what's going on as transitional. The planning for this project is long term. Very long term. This isn't our first crack at the league and unlike some teams who have come and gone, it won't be our last. We're all good :)

I also think that if Pep, as reported is coming to a Premier League team then we could rule out chelsea.

He was quoted as saying:-
“I will return next season but it would show a lack of respect to talk about any team that has a coach.”

It is common knowledge that benitez is only interim manager there till the summer - which benitez has also stated himself. This means that Pep would not have to respect Benitez in terms of announcing that he would be chelsea manager in the summer.

You could also say that he is aiming this line @ Munich, Milan, City, PSG or Man Utd

Yes you are right - but i meant if he was to come to the Prem. If anything you could say that taking the managers role at the swamp is somewhat of a poisened chalice in succeeding baconface. Thats why imo I feel they will go with someone like Moyes when he does call it a day.
