A Trophyless Domestic Season

I can take not winning trophies every single season.

But our style of play has become so stale. We are horrible to watch. We don't excite anymore and most fans leave after watching us feeling frustrated.

Pep constantly fucking about with the team. We go on a run of decent results with a settled back 4 and then decides to mess about with it.

Our wingers look championship level at best. Compared to what we once had.

It's been a shitshow of a season since.that awful winless run started last year.

We probably won't win any silverware for few years now. We've had our time in the sun. We have to Accept it and move on.

All anyone seems arsed about these days is basking in the reflected glory our club provides for them. Either they’re only happy when we win trophies or can laud it over other sets of fans, and when the team don’t give them that, they just call all the players and manager cunts and want them all out.

I’d rather be shit again and get rid of all these fuckers.
I mean given that before the game so many were saying winning the FA Cup wasn't enough and was still a bad season even with that would be poor from the club, I really don't see why they are now suddenly bothered that we haven't won it.

Only thing I’m disappointed with is dropping points to United.
Priorities (maybe stuck in the 70s /80s but)
1. Finish above United - tick
2. Avoid Relegation - tick
3. Push a youngster from academy to first team - tick
4. Win something - oh well there’s always next year.
Yeah there's many a season where I've thought we only need two wins for a good season, three or four if we cop 'em in the cup!

No but our way of breaking them down is, even when we have the chance to break away we don’t we allow the opposition to regroup that’s City’s problem, yesterday when Haaland was put through and the keeper was sent off was the only time we went long and it nearly paid off, far too many times we dither on the ball, that’s was great when we had the players to unlock the “bus” now we don’t and urs the same turgid football. Can you name the last time you thought we played outstanding football? I can’t.
Villa at home about 4 weeks ago

KDB used to be a spectacular player to watch. The emasculation of City's attacking game is age-related. If only it was down to tactics.

The commercial media will sell a story and some City fans might buy it.
It's down to numerous things including a club that became arrogant and lazy, from top to bottom we need a huge kick up the backside.

As others have said, I don't think we deserve to have won anything this year. How many games have we really played consistently well in this season? Maybe Chelsea home and away? Newcastle at home? Beyond that I'm struggling. I don't think you could get any of our performances this year into the top 10/15 of games from the treble season which shows how far backwards we've gone in such a short space of time.

Disappointed and frustrated.

We let the team grow too old and haven’t shown enough ambition in recent transfer windows to improve it.

I just hope we learn from it and stop being so meek in the transfer market. Let’s see if the board really do want to get back to winning stuff every season, or are happy bumbling around mid table with the odd cup run - that’s where the current squad is headed unless we make some proper improvements.

Ultimately I don't think on current form we are getting a CL spot and that's a fair refection of how we have performed. End of
Probably a worse case scenario. We miss champions league and united win the europa league and get champions league, after finishing 4 or 5 places from bottom spot. This will really effect our transfers over the summer. We can't let this happen.

If we're going to continue to be that insipid in finals we may as well go out in the first round ha
That's actually what I said to my hubby yesterday. He's a non league fan FYI.

It will take me a while to get over that show yesterday.

I know the players are flecked, I think it is because they seem to have creativity and spontaneity over coached out of them.

Pep is on another planet this season. I guess his marital strife hasn't helped, but he also needs challenging by the team around him.

As for the game officials those 2 are known for their compliancy in the Asian betting circles.

Henderson was a clear red. End of.

When we won our 4th title back to back, what did you think of Pep?

Last season Foden was POTY. Rodri is the Ballon D'or winner. KDB is now an old player. There is the reason for our decline.

i'd even go so far as to say,
a few trophyless seasons might mean some of the mardarses on here will go away and leave us alone.
A few trophy less seasons will mean tourists will disappear completely and that means the club will have no choice but to consider proper blues and lower prices. If that happens I'll be OK about it.

We’ve got a squad where 80% of them are probably fit for a club who finishes 4th-6th in the PL. and some people are surprised we are where we are.

When we had low crowds at CoMs some prices were still not great, and average game in the East Stand was £36 (£61 now) but Cat A SSL was £28 (£48).

It was never that cheap, Arsenal reserves in league cup Oct 2024 was £25 all tickets (£44) and under 22k turned up. A young lad at the back of 118 before the match with his parent won a spot prize and the MC went to him with a mic talking about the prize and asked who his favourite city player was. His response "I'm an arsenal fan".

Shutting stands is more cost effective than lowering ticket prices.

The problem with putting a manager on a pedestal due to previous performance and failing to hold him accountable for current poor performance is that this gives him an all powerful position which isn't healthy for him or the club.

Pep is a stubborn man, he has his favourites, this wasn't so much of a problem when his favourites were at the top of their game.

Now they're not. Pep needs to have his selection policy challenged, for the good of the team and the players who are being sidelined.

Is this happening? Or has he become such a powerful and revered figure that he can't be contradicted?

The great thing about sport in general and professional football in particular is that the fruits of your labour are there for all to see, and this season they have been poor.

So something isn't right. Should Pep's previous high performance provide evidence that this season is possibly a blip with various mitigating factors? Yes. Should that exempt him from criticism? I don't think so.

You mention Foden. The drop off in his performance levels has been alarming. He seems to be lacking in confidence. His body language doesn't look great. Pep gets credit for improving players, fine. He should be all over this situation like a rash.

Rodri got injured. This has apparently ruined our season. One player. It's literally Pep's job to come up with a solution and he hasn't.

KDB is an aging player, yet plays week in week out, ahead of younger players with a much longer future at the club to come. It's not just KDB. Bernardo, Gundogan, Kovacic, all appear to be shoehorned into the team whenever possible, despite the fact that the team has been struggling with them in it.

Pep has been losing big games against inferior opposition, not just two cup finals, but champs league games and important premier league games. Overall league form has been disappointin.

So whilst a trophyless season isn't a disaster, big clubs have a winning mentality which takes years to instill, and when that goes it can spiral out of control very quickly, there are numerous examples of this.

I don't want to see fans over-react, but I also think being complacent about what we've seen this season would also be a mistake. Lessons must be learned and quickly, and Pep seems to be a bit in denial about his.

Winning silverware is not why the hardcore City fans are here
A trophyless season happens to most of the 90-odd clubs in football and life goes on

Yesterday is already in the history books and done and dusted, that's how fast football works
