A Weird Football Day

Today was one of the weirdest days of football I can remember for quite a while:

- First of all, I would have been happy with a draw away at bogey team No 2 (Number 1 being Everton). Even at 4-0 I did not feel comfortable. It just did not feel right away at WHL.

- Whilst I have been a firm believer that it takes time to adjust etc, I have not seen an all round performance as good as Dzeko's in such a long time in terms of variety of goals, versatility, etc. I thought the day of the natural goalscorer was dead with the 20+ goals a season long gone but Dzeko is looking like he will prove otherwise. He has everything; instinct, 2 footed, heading, poaching....He is starting to remind me a little of Shearer in that he just scores goals from anywhere.

- Tottingham have been exposed for the team I have always thought they were. Playing way above themselves with shitty players by playing that Gung Ho old school, dated, English winger game. Crouch, Lennon and Defoe are so unbelievably shite. Also where was Harry's post match interview?

- The standard of football that United and City are playing right now is a clear distance between anyone else in the league. Although I am still uncertain about Chelsea. Liverpool has still thriving on the old Dalglish hype. It won't last. Reminds me of Tottenham over the last 2 seasons.

- I don't think I have ever seen a team in any division put in such a dire and pathetic performance as Arsenal did today. Also, Arsene is extremely deluded and I cannot believe that he still states that Arsenal do not need to buy players. I really feel sorry for him. I knew Arsenal were going down, but wow, that was truly pathetic today.

-- Sun Aug 28, 2011 9:31 pm --

To add to my post, additionally I think our team is about to evolve from last year. I think 4-2-3-1 might be about to become our standard formation. That Kun/Silva/Nasri partnership is going to absolutely rape teams this year.

Great post, weird day indeed. Shame it had to be them that shagged the arse though

It was really sickening that even when we win 5-1 away at spuds they manage to go top of the table by 1 goal.

I think it may go to wire between us and the Rags, they are playing well, and we are both have got off to flying starts, if it goes the way I think it is going to be one hell of a season, early days though to early to predict anything with and certainty

But our squad strength could be telling......................

Very odd day indeed.

Arsenal were truly embarrassing, I won't even send a hateful text to my gooner buddy because he doesn't deserve more. His own team have done more damage then my silly words would have anyway

Arsene Wenger has slowly and effectively dismantled one of the best teams England has ever seen in the space of about 8 years. Credit to the bloke for killing a rival.

You have to credit the rags for scoring 8 but have to say arse were truly awful today.

Reminded me of an afternoon at boro a few yrs back.....
Seems a different life that right now.

Driving in to work tonight at 17 30 happy as a pig in shit at our win, have to drive down Cheater Rd passed the swamp and was thinking maybe the Rags will win 3 -1, CD on not wanting to hear the score, gets in work and the first am greeted with is a rag fucker telling me about the 8 -2, still didn't take the shine off my day tho, but as the OP says It's been a weird football day
