This is Manchester mate. Everyone has about 20 nicknames which are ever-evolving.

Correct. And a baker's opposite with an old-fashioned HOVIS sign sticking out from the 1st floor. I always liked the smell that came from there but didn't get to go in very often.

Used to take about two hours wait to get your hair cut, in that time you could watch Commando, Kick-boxer and Rocky 5.

Phil Bardsley's grandad used to cut my hair. Alan. He had a barber shop on Littleton Road in the 90s and most of his customers were rags, obviously. Every barber in Salford is. Even the Turkish/Kurdish ones.
Alan had a skill...he could hold a lit cig in his mouth and let it burn all the way down whilst cutting hair and not let the ash EVER fall onto the customer. All while talking abut United.
Every time i went, i had to remind him that I was a Blue.

Here we go if any one gives a flying f**k, Mathew took over the shop ( cutting hair ) and he was a the brother of one of our right backs. Sure Failsworth blues will say other wise if wrong, but he did have a place on Alder Rd prior to moving into next door to the Cotton Tree.

Remember him well. You had to guess when he would be open due to his love of golf.
