The MCFC site now has film/news story about the second Academy History Session we did which included a visit to Ricky's gym.

This session was about supporters.

Really enjoyed that and very impressed with what you guys are doing.
shame you couldn't get ricky and viera in the ring for a couple of rounds.

Great stuff again Gary. I think it's great that the club have endorsed this, as it's important for the academy lads to get a feel for the club. Good to see Vieira and Marwood there. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks for the comments.

To be fair the people who deserve most credit are Luke & Tony from the Academy who first approached me with the idea to explain the history to the Academy players.

We met up, discussed ideas and came up with ten separate sessions focusing on all different angles. They discussed them with Garry Cook and Brian Marwood and received great support. Then we got them properly set up.

The style will change (sometimes we'll be out and about, other times we'll stay at the Academy) but hopefully they'll all work as well as the first 2 have.

It's great that they've been actively supported by Paul Lake, Patrick Vieira, Brian Marwood and of course Ricky Hatton. More to come....

As far as I'm aware this is a first for any English football club. I know already that at least one other club has now shown interest in the same sort of thing - the difference is that we're doing it and has full support.

It'll be interesting to see what the next eight sessions focus on, looking forward to seeing them.

Presumably one of them will involve taking the academy lads to mcfcliam's gaff where he'll explain the importance of being a "proper" City fan.

Absolutely first class.....

Could BM also do this? I would be interested in the history of things like fence throwing. Who threw the first fence and how can I improve my technique?
