Oh no! What a shame! What will the world do without us?

It's gonna happen one day though. The last of the humans. As they say, put the chairs on the table and switch the light off before you leave, whoever it is.

It's never going to happen.

It's the one possibility that human beings, rightly obsessed with danger and death, never consider.

Humans, or something very much like us, will explore the Universe. We are FAR too widespread to be knocked out by nature or aggression.

Society doesn't stop. Evolution doesn't stop. Technological advance doesn't stop.

What about if a big comet hits one of the planets in our solar system hard enough to knock it out of it's orbit and affects ours?

Nonsense
We may well get swiped by an extinction event in the next 50 years to illustrate why there's no one out there.

Yeah, I remember you posting about nuclear bombs and that they couldn't destroy life completely. There might not be a last 'human' on the earth before it's death, but there will be a last intelligent, evolved thing.

The 2nd law is gonna get everything eventually. So there will be "a day" if the law is right. The Multivac needs to work on reversing entropy.

Outside of the Sun blowing up, there is no possible event that could cause human extinction

The dinosaurs thought exactly the same :|

Dinosaurs thought that too

Still disagree with you on the nuclear war thing, even if the blasts didn't kill everyone, the resulting climate changes and water irradiation would finish everyone off imo.

Weren't we nearly wiped out by a volcano years ago... Only small pockets of humans survived and Neanderthals didn't. Something about most of us being the offspring of one tribe.

I agree that it's unlikely that we'd be wiped out unless something in space happens.

Again through I don't want us to for the sake of our children. Bugs me when those without children get all philosophical about it being good for nature and shit. F@ck nature, climate change and the environment, long live people!!! We will adapt!!!

Hopefully you're joking :)

But if you aren't. What do you want us to accomplish? And at what cost? To what end?

It's not all about us you know. Not to be a lentil hugging yoghurt basket maker or whatever, I couldn't give a shit about "The planet" in fact. It can't feel can it.

There is a question that gets asked. If there was a big red button, when if pressed, all life/sentience could be instantly killed, as if it all never had existed or evolved.. I'm guessing you wouldn't push it.

I think you are a tad insane but each to their own :-)

You are.

Maybe nasa have spotted a massive alien warfleet of ships on its way. The death star could blow a planet up.
