Acid

Seems to be making a bit of a comeback. Been offered it a few times lately but have declined for obvious reasons.

Anyone got any stories?

I was working in a toxicology lab prior to going to university.

Before I left one of the researchers comes up to me and says "no matter what you do.." in a fatherly like way, ".. never drop acid. Do heroin, cocaine, cannabis, but never touch LSD. That is the only thing that'll react with your brain and cause permanent chemical changes you'll not be able to reverse"

I'm not one for chasing artificial highs when the naturally occurring ones are good enough, but for my money this is the best thing on drugs:

When we were about 17 me and a couple of my mates took a microdot. I was out of my tree for about 12 hours. I always thought hallucinations were a myth......until that night.

It was only just on the right side of the dividing line between enjoyment and something very different.

I had taken acid a few times prior to that but never microdots and that night was a whole new experience. It's one I didn't sample again.

Life changing event for me. Took it first when I was about 19/20, and changed my whole perspective in life as you see the world in a different way.

Had some great times on it and a couple of slightly dodgy ones. Was sat in between two mates who were talking to each other and I was moving my head to look at each of them as they spoke. It got to the point that my head was facing left but I was seeing what was on the right, and then when I looked right I was seeing what was on the left. My mate once tried to climb out of pub toilet window as there was too much pine cladding in there and it was bothering him.

Lying on the grass in the park at night and watching the trace backs of aeroplanes going by, bloody great it was. White Lightning, Purple Ohms, Strawberries.

Never touched it myself but a girl I lived with had been an occasional user previous to our relationship.
Even though she'd stopped, for some years after she'd get the odd flashback. Mostly scary shit too.
She came back from the launderette once crying because the chairs were talking to her. Then as she'd got the clothes out of the drier they chased her out of the door!

This reminds me off my mushroom experience. If I turned my head too look at someone, I'd still have the image of the other person next to me who I'd been looking at a second before. I was sat in my hotel room for 20 hours watching the bathroom tiles moving, sort of resembling the game tetras.

Some fun facts about LSD:

2. Used as a tool by scientists in several Nobel-Prize winning discoveries (PCR technique: <a class="postlink" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riDeuzVrlEQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riDeuzVrlEQ</a>) (Both Francis Crick, and Richard Feynman, admitted to using LSD while solving problems)

3. Used as a tool during the invention of several modern conveniences (CD: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.amsciepub.com/doi/abs/10.2466/pr0.1966.19.1.211" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amsciepub.com/doi/abs/10.246 ... 6.19.1.211</a>) (Computer mouse: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.zdnet.com/article/the-steve-jobs-way-exploring-the-intersection-of-psychedelics-and-technology/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.zdnet.com/article/the-steve- ... echnology/</a>) (Other sources: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2011/sep/06/psychedelics-computer-revolution-lsd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... lution-lsd</a> and <a class="postlink" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/scientists-and-geniuses-who-used-drugs-2013-8?op=1&IR=T" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.businessinsider.com/scientis ... ?op=1&IR=T</a>)

4. Widely researched as an enhancer for creativity in general, leading several scientists to solve problems they couldn't solve without it (see the link for CD)

5. Autistic children showed remarkable changes and progress with LSD (<a class="postlink" href="http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/autism.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/autism.htm</a>)

6. LSD therapy given to terminal patients alleviated or completely removed their fear of death (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4086777/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4086777/</a>)

7. LSD has immense therapeutic potential by revealing unconscious internal brain processes to the conscious mind (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3909994/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3909994/</a>)

8. No addictive properties whatsoever.

9. No toxicity whatsoever (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.maps.org/research-archive/cluster/psilo-lsd/cns-neuroscience+therapeutics_2008-passie.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.maps.org/research-archive/cl ... passie.pdf</a>)
