Adam Johnson?

Calmed down a bit since last night. I had to, couldnt carry on like that.

Anyway, I still dont think he offers enough. Only one time during his spell, that I remember, did he beat his man and then proceeded to mess up the delivery.

Not fast enough to be a real winger.

Yes, most of the other players were crap too last night. But for most of them, it was just last night and you can be sure they will be back firing in the next match....Johnson? I doubt it.

Bringing de Jong on was the oddest sub.

Johnson was no worse than anyone else.

They were all shit

No chance, the worst sub was Milner off instead of Barry. Milner had been our best player, Barry the worst.

He isn't good enough to play in a team looking to win the Premiership.

He's absolutely terrified to try and beat a man. Should be replaced in the summer imo.

I'm starting to think he isn't quite up to the level of a team challenging for the title.

Certainly isn't capable of playing a full 90 at any sort of intensity we need him to. And I am not just talking about in the games against the top teams - he has struggled to make an impression when he has started against teams in the bottom half. Though they have been limited, he has been given his chances and has failed to take them.

Whats even more worrying is he seems to have lost the knack of being able to come on with 25-20 mins to go and give us a different dimension - he isn't effective enough anymore as an impact sub, which I think is his role within the squad.

I would expect him to get moved on in the summer.

Just before he came on, we were hitting them on the break and Baines was upfield a lot leaving that side very open. It was made for him to come on, although it should have been for Barry not Milner.

Unfortunately for us and Johnson, they then put 11 men behind the ball and crowded us out, he did all he could, but just like the other 10 players, couldn't make a breakthrough.

You can't single out Johnson for his performance tonight.

+1

I don`t think that we are singleing Johnson out just for last night.
He has been very disappointing for a while now and IMO for what its worth,he thinks he`s better than what he actually is.
Never seen a winger play so many sidewards and pass backs in my life.
People on here criticise the likes of Lennon and Co,but I know who I`d sooner have.Hell Etherington from Stoke is older and better.

Johnson has been figured out by opposing teams, he is a one trick pony I am afraid, all they need to do is have two men closing him down and it's game over.

I think the guy needs to find more tricks to get passed his man. Alas, don't think his heart is in it, will be gone in the summer I feel
