Ashley Young never had the potential to step up to being a top player. He is a very good top 6 player.
Strange seeing all these comments about how Lallana is not good enough for City when Milner and Navas are. Lallana is different to those players, but he is by no means inferior to them. I don't think Lallana has the potential to be world class, but can be an important member of any first team. I think he is/will be as good as the likes of Kagawa, Carzola, Willian and Countinho. It's just a shame for him that City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal are so stacked in those positions. If he had made the break through earlier then he would probably have been bought and been in the first team for a top 4 (+United) team.
