And he flops? They have signed an extra defender on loan from Lyon.Yes but we're discussing the figure. There's no good in this deal. If Tosin turns out to be great and gets sold for 25m, we're walking about away with a total of 6.5m for a player valued 4x that price.
How's it going to look if Tosin continues to see a Fulham side get slapped by 3 goals on average? People have convinced them as if it is a big loss without it even playing out.And he flops? They have signed an extra defender on loan from Lyon.

We still get a good fee for a player who has barely featuredIf Tosin flops, we still weren't compensated enough. Fulham will sell him for far more no matter how he does.

20% of any future fee is good.1.5M is NOT a good fee.
Had it confirmed personally that there's no buy back clause from the person who told me he wanted to leave initially btw. Really is as bad a deal as it looks on paper.

Then so be it? We cannot control how well he does or how bad he does can we?It doesn't need to play out. It's a terrible deal no matter how he does. A young, ball playing English centre back coming off a hugely successful loan spell in the Championship should NOT be sold for 1.5m. If he turns out to be good, we have no protection. No buy back clause. There's no positive prism to view this deal with.
Still unproven in the Premier League playing for a club who is fighting for their lives. Gunn has flopped at Southampton coming off a back of a good loan spell at Norwich. Its a bigger gamble for those teams than us.We got a terrible fee for a player who was one of the best CBs in the championship last season.

If anything we have gotten him a decent move because it's within Prem. Yes obviously the deal could've been better, he could have been sold for lots more, but whats the point? We have brought in Laporte and Dias as our two expensive centre backs to help in long run, we have 50m John Stones sitting at the club, if we still need a Tosin to save us despite that then I'm afraid it really is all doom and gloom.
Good luck to him and I hope he proves he's a Prem level defender, but he has no future with us as of now, his value of sale becomes irrelevant because of this factor. If he becomes good and moves on then it is what it is, you cannot forsee every deal going good or bad. Plenty clubs lose players for pennies and regret them to this day, Gnabry from Arsenal to Bayern probably a good recent example, it's just how football business works. You can't win it all.

Perhaps Tosin , who supported the club, did all that was asked and didn’t go bleating to the press etc, fancied Fulham and the club helped him get the move he wanted?
I don't get what upside to the deal there may have been? A buy back clause at best? We can always buy him back without it? How come all of a sudden fans have become careful financial advisors and experts in suggesting what is a good deal and what isn't? Who is saying getting £2m is a fair deal? It isn't, but it's our own doing, the result of our own policy long term. We've never sold to break even and only then re invest, if you're expecting a different model from the club all of a sudden, be it any player who leaves, then you have no hope. We have never gotten amazing deals for selling players.I'm not following your logic here, because other teams have sold players for too cheap in the past, you just accept any bad deal because it's part of football?
Gnabry deal was criticised at the time and every club should strive to avoid selling future talents for too cheap. We have essentially done a deal here where there is literally no upside for us. If Tosin turns out to be terrible, 1.5m is probably less than he would be worth regardless. If he turns out great, a club like Fulham would have no leverage in negotiations and would have to sell him for relatively cheap thus rendering the sell-on clause ineffective. We've set up a deal here doomed to fail, there's not a single positive for us. This deal can literally never turn out to be a good thing in hindsight.
