Simon23 you keep quoting players who have neve played in the premiership. This guy has consistently scored goals in the premiership a feat which eto'o and fabiano havent done and before you come back at me with they score goals in the spanish league yes i accept that BUT so does forlan and he didnt do it here.

We are trying to hit the ground running and i think wed have a better chance to do that with a guy who knows the league as oppose to 2 guys who while good in another league have no guarantees that the will play well in this league add onto that the stress of settling into a foreign country etc and this cold turn out to be a decent buy.

Id have both the 2 players you mentioned but there is alot of variable to consider with both.

Yeah i agree wih you...but in my opinion both those two players would have no trouble whatsoever adapting to the premiership. When we signed Jo, Bianchi, Samaras and Corradi I said at the various times that though they had reasonable records in their previous leagues I thought that they would struggle in the prem...and i was correct.......i was also against us going after alves that middlesborough eventually bought.....for the same reasons that i thought he would struggle...and he has

i agree adebeyour is a very good player...and he has a good record in hte prem and would be a good signing....but we still need a variation in our strikers as he (in my opinion) is very similar to RSC......

as ive said before, if we want to really go to the next level then we need a striker that offers all the attributes in one player that we have from the numerous strikers we have

eg. bellamy...full of pace and aggression and desire to win....runs the channels well, and plays on the shoulder of the last man
Boj...great shot on him...strong, reasonably quick
rsc...good in the air and at holding the ball up...good shot on him as well
robbie....pacey and tricky and able to beat people while running at them....class finisher and can win a game in a moment of brilliance and can create chances for himself rather than relying on a supply line (this is especially imp0rtant against teams that come and park the bus in front of goal when at home)

however the likes of torres, ronaldo, eto'o, fabiano, drogba (in his prime) have all these qualitues themselves.....especially the ability to create something out of nothing when its really needed

You seriously over rate Drogba is you think he is an all round striker. He is a top top athlete but I have seen him miss numerous chances and he rarely scores "special goals", you over rate Fabiano is you think he is strong enough to hold defenders off and can win aerial balls. The only all round strikers there are Torres, Ronaldo and Eto'o you could probably add Ibrahimovic to that list aswell.

My point is there are very few strikers who can do everything well and 3 of the strikers who can are difficult personalities.

Spot on - Adebayor may be more similar to RSC than any other of our forwards, but he has all the attributes given to the others above, without perhaps the all-out aggression of Bellamy, which is a questionable requisite anyway imo if you've got a bit of class. He's physically as big a handful as RSC and he's used to the Premiership.

Yes from me

Re: Adebayor

We won't sign him, he's still too young to be sold by Arsenal.

Wenger will snap our arm off if we offer them £25 million.

Re: Adebayor

The BIG difference between Eto'o and Adebayor is that Adebayor has played in the Premiership. He knows the demands and is up to the pace whereas Eto'o has not. Forlan when he was at Utd looked out of his depth yet in Spain has done well.

Samaras has done well in SPL but would anyone want him back!!!

The problem for Hughes is that he needs success this year. Buying players from other leaugues has a risk whereas you know what you are getting if we were to get Adebayor

It is still wrong.

Re: Adebayor

It's worth taking some time to visit the Arsenal fans websites to get their views on his current standing with them.

To me he looks like a player who is keen to play silly buggers every close season by leaving people guessing about whether he will or won't stay at the club. Rather like Drogba.

As a player he has obvious strengths. The weaknesses are are there too. We all know what they are.

Re: Adebayor

My friend is a big Arse fan he said he had a great season a couple of years back. then as a result of that he wanted a improved contact which he well and truely got after all but leaving arsenal ..ever since not been the same player he would be glad to see the back him sorry for me another player driven for money

Re: Adebayor

Never been hugely impressed by him, yes, he's scored a lot in the PL (only one blinding season though) but you could put a donkey in front of the Arsenal midfield and he'd score a lot of goals from ricochets whilst cropping the grass in the opposition penalty area.

I remember someone saying after they visited the gooner boards that they weren't too bothered about him leaving. Provided RSC stays fit I don't think there's much difference between them apart from Adebayor is probably quicker. If we didn't have RSC then I'd say yes for our target-man but with RSC in the squad I'd rather we waited for a worldclass targetman.....

Even RSC's injury record doesn't bother me that much, with Robinho, Bojinov, Bellamy, Caicedo & Tevez (if he signs) competing for the front 3 we have reasonable backup. We've still got Petrov and SWP who could easily operate as advanced wingers in a 4-3-3 if we get a stupid amount of injuries.

Still wouldn't say no to an Eto'o or Villa though :-)

Re: Adebayor

Latest odds for Adebayor to sport a light blue shirt after the transfer window:
Bluesquare: 7/4
Skybet: 10/3
888sport: 7/4

Not being British I'm not too good with odds in fractions, but that's really short odds isn't it?
