Adebayor.....

Parker has made a big difference to them. They were very unlucky not to get at least a point today. They are certainties for top 4 for me.

Bale and Modric would get in any side in the prem including ours!

Friedel is the reason they are doing so well - he really is one of the best keepers in the world.

Should we tell Spuds that we want £25M in Jan or we recall him?

It seems wrong that we're paying for their current success.

Is this an ongoing in joke on the board that I'm just not familiar with like TCIB's tracking back stuff?

I just don't know how so many folk would think they'd be able to recall someone that a team had paid a loan fee for. It's also pretty likely that a transfer fee would have been agreed at the time if we chose to take the option of taking him on permanently so you wouldn't be able to say out of the blue that either you pay (what is likely to be) double the pre arranged transfer fee for him or we'll have him back...It just doesn't make any sense.

So why does Redknapp want to sign him in Jan if there is a deal in place to sign him in the summer for a fixed amount?

Best part of the article (apart from the headline) is this:
Redknapp revealed the secret of keeping players happy. “Just treat them fairly.

“Have a chat with them, keep them onside, keep them enjoying their football, make them feel important.

“I’ve just been telling how well I think he’s done and what a key player he is for the team. We all love a pat on the back. You like to be told you’re doing something well.
Why haven't other managers thought of that!!
or maybe it's because he's paid twice as much as anyone else and is selected for each game! Wait till he has a dip in form and is dropped.

The team who takes the player on loan generally arranges a transfer fee which they can exercise that fee at any time during the period of the loan unless I'm mistaken. Don't attempt to defend your original post!

-- Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:17 am --

Well he does take there penalties you know. Scored a pen today. Not that it mattered in the end. - Stoke won. Though Foy could have given them another pen and he possibly should have disallowed Stokes first goal. That said Friedel kept Spurs in it in the first half. Four outstanding saves (again) - Friedel is the reason they are doing so well - he really is one of the best keepers in the world.

Friedel really didn't keep us in it, he was practically glued to his line for all of their set pieces, when there were many he could have came out for and punched away, like their first goal. And his distribution was pretty bad as well.

Foy had a shocker on many levels, not much more to say about that.

Prett sure all loans have a recall deal. But we would have to pay a pretty big penalty. Spurs have been good to be fair. But you can't lose two matches to 2nd and 1st place club if you want to win the title. They will finish 4th behind Chelsea. As Arsenal and Liverpool are weak.

We paid a loan fee, it would be ridiculous for the parent club to be able to bring him back whenever you feel like it. I'm going to sound like a dick but it's a pretty simple concept but many don't seem to get it. Levy is no mug, why would he pay a couple of million to bring in a 1st team player if there was the risk of him being recalled, why would Ade agree to that?!?!

We had the same thing with Hart when Given got injured last year. A loan between to Prem clubs is technically not a loan its a temporary purchase due to Prem clubs not being allowed to loan between each other so basically you have Ade on hire purchase for a season and in no way can we call him back. The same goes if he blew his knee out the day he got there, spurs would have to pay him the whole time and cover his medical costs until the last day of the season
